Namaste All,
I agree with Hillary on the 'God', each to his own.
It all depends on one's preference. For example in
India they have various systems of philosophy. The
main being, Dualism, Partial Non-Dualism, and
Non-Dualism, which essentially translate as We and God
are separate, We are sparks of God, and lastly we are
God/All is God/Brahman.
The latter is Adwaita in Sanskrit and is what I
subscribe to. To me there is no 'God', that is an
illusion, that I haven't realised yet.
I follow a Guru, yes but that is no different than
following a Teacher or Preceptor. I do not 'worship'
Him, except as a manifestation of my own Soul, and I
am aware that I and He aren't different except for
'Awareness'. A Dualist would worship Him.
However , believing in 'Energy', is believing in
'God', for the Energy is what people mean when they
say ,'God, Goddess, Sakti', etc. You say your are an
agnostic, I take that in it's fullest meaning. That
is, as you don't 'know', you are somewhat like
Socrates, you aren't a 'Realised Person', as yet? In
the end the very act of knowing is in fact ignorance
because it is of the mind that we have to 'kill'.
If people believe in Deities and Gods etc, then for
them, there are these 'Beings', as much as we have
neighbours. Or molecules and separate cells making up
our human body.
In the end 'God', is a concept and an illusion. The
only thing we can identify with is the Energy, and
that is Love. God is Love and Love is God.
That is why there is no such thing as an atheist, for
everyone loves something. The last step is to even
rise above the Bliss of the Energy/Sakti, but that is
the route to ultimate Realisation. Once we become the
Blissful Energy, Savikalpa Samadhi, it is one step to
Nirvikalpa Samadhi.
The concept of the uniting of Siva/Sakti at the
Sahasrara, is actually the merging with Sakti to merge
with Siva entails another step. That is 'Big Siva', or
Nirguna Brahman.
Hope you don't mind this rave! Your Agnosticism is
beautiful and full of Truth.
