Hmmm... this is a really tricky one, Steve.
I'm not going to pretend I know the answer to this one.
There is much suffering in the world and many ways to
react in the face of seeming adversity.
The ego and the mind/body's will and need to survive
is very strong, no matter whether K is active in
the mind/body or not.
I can only give you my experiences.
K represents an unlimited amount of energy.
It is part you and part something much much bigger.
The energy makes the physical and the other bodies
the soul occupies to vibrate in a certain frequency.
Or rather, the energy wants to reach a certain
frequency.
When there are internal problems
in the bodies, they hinder this frequency to
be reached. We know them as blocks and
they occassionally cause pain when they are resolved
in the physical reality, physical and or emotional
or spiritual pain.
Of course, it is all for the good in the end,
but this is can be very difficult to
acknowledge, both intellectually and emtionally.
It's a bit like fever.
It's a necessary defense mechanism but it sure doesn't
feel too good when it's raging.
Ppl come to K from many different backgrounds
and with many different personalities
(= emotional bodies) and so we react differently
to the blocks that we carry.
What is horrible and shocking to one person may
be humorous and fascinating to another.
Many Hindu sources mention the problems associated
with K, but few really do explain the reasons
other than calling them blocks and recommending
absolute acceptance of the situation(s) that arise.
In addition, in most spiritual traditions,
adepts that became K active had a guru to rely on
who had been through the process himself and was
familiar with the different problems which
may arise along the way.
Of course this is different in today's world
where many ppl become spontaneously awakened.
My personal (and small experience) with pain
directly caused by K, has been very limited indeed
and definitely associated with blocks in the
major chakras.
Nevertheless, much more pain has come about
as a result of grappling with the ego
than as a result of K.
Hope that gives you some ideas to bounce around. :)
Best regards,
Amanda.
