Greetings!
Maybe the article isn't so much a big load of rubbish, but rather one
specific (and therefore necessarily limited) view of the whole
kundalini-thing ?
I for one accept the fact that kundalini does have a physical/physiological
component affecting & changing the nervous system. Since I and many other
k-active people have experienced various degrees of the insanity as well as
some of the enhanced mental faculties that just seem to happen in the course
of the kundalini-process, I can go along with much of the content of the
article
It seems to be crucial however to be educated about the bigger spiritual
picture and larger framework in which the whole phenomenon takes place. Maybe
this is one of the tasks we all have, to draw upon the traditions and our
experiences and then weave them together with those of other kundalini-people
so that a complete and new science of kundalini and spiritual evolution can
be built, appropriate for these times we're living in ?
You're absolutely right in saying that people with a freshly activated
kundalini can be very distressed through reading material which underlines
the destructive and unstable aspects of k. It's also true that power-hungry
egocentrics might be drawn to the possibilities of having siddhis (psychic
power) through kundalini - but most of us get to know from experience that
relying on ego-structures usually creates problems if not downright misery.
In due course we also seem to learn that relief only comes from letting go
and letting the kundalini itself take over - thy will-not mine-be done ...
So, I have a feeling that the Mother Goddess perhaps knows what She is doing
even when She awakes in the power-tripper ( or, in the unprepared too, as a
matter of fact). Of course the person might not know what's going on and very
soon start to wonder why life suddenly becomes so impossible - but that seems
to be part of the play too...The "sincere spirituality" gets drummed into
the consciousness by force so to speak and those who just want to have fun
might be in for a surprise..
<<Kundalinii is not really an energy per se, it is an ideative condition, a
psycho-spiritual ideation that arouses divine feelings.
Where people get confused is that they associate Kundalinii with energies
at various chakras. This is not correct. They are experiencing symptoms
not kundalini awakening that gives rise to divine feelings and surrender
to the Supreme.>>
Here I have to disagree (sorry - and excuse me if I'm wrong) - the way it
appears to me, kundalini is indeed energy - in fact it's the Mother of all
Energies beyond which there are no other energies - the basic component of
all there is, the intelligence that gives shape and substance to all physical
objects (including human bodies and minds as well as the thoughts and
emotions arising within the mind/body structure). This is why it's possible
to personify kundalini as a Goddess without being out of synch with reality -
She IS reality !
The chakras are the focal points of the energy in the human consciousness,
where kundalini creates the different levels of awareness within ourselves -
the sense of having a physical body and physical senses at the root level,
feelings of love and connectedness at the heart chakra, the sense of having/
using the mind at the forehead/ajna-chakra etc. One could say that the sum of
activity in the various chakras creates our identitity and personality. When
kundalini "awakens", it starts moving upwards in and through the chakras, the
feelings of bliss and surrender to the divine happen when the top part of the
brain (and the sahasrara center in the subtle superphysical structure) are
activated by the energy.
The sense of identity changes completely once the original structures in the
lower (ego- and personality-related) chakras have been removed or
purified..i.e. I'm not this "person" or this body or this academic title or w
hatever label we usually put on ourseleves - I'm just consciousness and as
such I'm connected to everything else. There is, in reality only one "I" in
the whole universe and all phenomena (such as bodies, things, thoughts and
emotions, all activities) happen within this one great "I"...
Having had glimpses of this larger reality I again and again find it painful
to go back down into the "normal" and limited mode with all its problems and
hassles - however eating the (mostly metaphorical) shit seems to be, as
someone stated before, necessary and part of the whole evolutionary
experience..
