Subject: [K-list] On re/preincarnation...

>From the posts/mails I read, I somehow got the idea that the ideas are
stored within our genes. BUT, I have trouble understanding how these ideas
could have ended up in our genes so quickly. I mean, the experiences of a
certain kind of person in a certain kind of culuture seem most "valid",
speculating that there are "programs" in our brain that predict how
mankind will be (ie. our cultural evolution was preprogammed by little
green men from Mars). But in that case, we should also have experiences of
reincarnation from the cultures of future (pre-incarnation?), unless it is
preprogrammed that human culture will disappear during our culture...

I would once have said that reincarnation is a storm from our
subconscious, to which some stuff we have seen on tv/whatever have been
stored, but I am aware there are totally uneducated people (in the third
world) who know nothing of other cultures, and yet they are able to bring
up memories from different cultures. Someone would suggest demonism, I
really don't have a clue.

In a way I hope mankind had never come up with the concept of
reincarnation. It's scientifically so damn confusing. I would not have
trouble with it otherwise, but as I see so many spiritually awake people
talking about reincarnation I start to wonder whether I have "missed"
something. I have experienced a hallucinatory "pool of consciousness"
where every past/future life is in store, but that is far away from
scientific view on man.

If I had to start "teaching" buddhism to somebody, I would advice him to
skip all the parts regarding reincarnation. Or perhaps this reincarnation
thing is mentioned so often since it has potential to screw peoples minds
up in a way Zen koans or kundalini do...?
