This is a GREAT thread!
Every so often there's a Conference on Time. In fact, years
ago I bought a copy of the papers given at one of those
conferences. Not only scientists attend, but those from
all the disciplines.
A lot of it I simply don't understand. But the one thing
I came away from it was that there are cultures that simply
don't use linear time; they use circular time.
If we view time, not as a thread; past, present, future and
instead view time as events being on a circular plate
(viewing
it from above), we can see how all events, including what
we in a linear philosophy, call circular ('NOW') time.
I'll dig up the article and re-read it and then talk about
it.
There are apparently some languages that don't use past, or
future
tenses; rather these things are formulated by comprehending
the entire sentence.
When I first read these things, they really blew my mind
because
I thought my linear concept of the universe was the only
(and
Absolute) one.
