Are you saying that being burned is a learned response? Wouldn't, then, no
infant ever be burned in a tragic fire? Surely, if this is a learned
response the magnitude of the flames, magnitude being a learned value, would
have no import.

I accept your word that this is the case. I have no explanation for this
phenomenon. Personally, I handle hot coals often during the BBQ season. I
find that it takes some time before burning of the skin begins.
