Really?
Why?
It sounds as though he was referring to the preliminary practices: 100,000
prostrations, 100,000 repetitions, common to the four schools of Vajrayana.
The intent of restricting access certain Tantras is to protect people from
possibly harming themselves. This is similar to keeping children away from
fire.
If he was to speak to you of practices that were beyond your abilities but
which you chose to perform anyway you may have endangered yourself and at the
same time created a karmic burden for him.
It is also likely that he may have taken a vow to not speak of these
practices to anyone who had not completed the preliminary practices. In that
case, breaking the vow is very bad.
