Yes, I can confirm this from personal experience. Usually, during meditation
I tend to recite a mantra. This helps me to focus my mind and to get rid of
my mental background noise like thoughts etc. Repeating a mantra seems to
give my mind a much needed break and I always feel refreshed afterwards.
One of the things about mantra repetition that still amazes me is the fact
that each mantra I know does have a different effect on me. One mantra in
particular that I keep repeating causes strong reactions within me and I
repeatedly find myself in tears while repeating it. I am not crying because
I am sad but because of the bliss I feel while repeating the mantra. I can't
quite describe what's happening inside me accurately but this mantra causes
a strong sense of being "home", of being one, a sense of release, of peace
and relief from whatever seems to be stuck within me and which is holding me
back. Another effect I noticed is that I can overcome almost any fear or
negative emotions and thought patterns (if I can catch them coming on) when
I repeat a mantra.Therefore I agree with you a 100%. Mantras are one of the
most useful and powerful spiritual techniques.
