Hello!
Rabbi Yossi Markel wrote:
<In Yoga, there are various disciplines which revolve around the spine
and the Chakras.
Hatha Yoga for example is mostly a series of exercises and poses aimed
at synchronizing the breath, the heart and the spinal energy and
aligning the spine in order that the energy flow is proper. >
The main aim of all yoga is to bring mind and body under the control of the
soul. One then proceeds to realize that mind, body, soul and universe are one.
Hatha-yoga approaches this unification from the physical side by teaching
control and the becoming totally conscious of the body (consciousness=soul).
Raja-yoga as first described by Patanjali teaches unification through
control over the mind.
The end result is exactly the same, i.e. at a certain moment after having
done hatha-yoga practice there is the realisation that it's actually the same
as raja yoga - mind and body are the same - different sides of one and the
same coin!
<Kundalini Yoga is one of the Tantric Yogas. Tantra generally is the
"fast lane" yoga where a faster result may be achieved but there is a
higher risk. Classical Kundalini is the control of the serpent during
the sex act so that the fluid travels up the spine rather than down. If
this is achieved, there should be NO EJACULATION OF FLUIDS.>
Kundalini Yoga is nothing else than the culmination of hatha - and raja-yoga.
Body and mind are ultimately energy and kundalini yoga teaches how to awaken
and harness that energy. In practice, the discipline can consist of most of
the hatha and raja-yoga exercises, keeping in mind that they're performed
just in order to purify, focus and guide the awakened energy.
In my very humble opinion, I believe the only fast-track yoga comes about
through the awakened kundalini. She makes us evolve and expands our
consciousness.
I'd rather say that tantra is an attitude as well as a science, which,
incidentally is only marginally involved with sex.... (The word "tantra"
can be seen to mean expansion of consciousness and freedom) -
To be tantric is to USE everything that's there in our personal lives, the
beautiful and the ugly, in order to get closer to the supreme reality and
liberation. This of course is contrary to orthodox religious beliefs that are
always dualistic in nature - eradicate everything which is "evil", go only
for that which the Good Books say is ok.
<Practice of kundalini is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. It can cause physical
damage. However most "Kundalini" practitioners nowadays, are either
practicing a form of hatha or just having ejaculatory sex. Often men use
Kundalini to cover up a sexual come on but I'll not discuss this as I
believe the members of this list are sincerely trying to follow a
spiritual path.>
I think there may be damage if kundalini awakens without preparation (I know
what I'm talking about). Since kundalini yoga IS this preparation it's not
the yoga that is dangerous but the unprepared mind and body that trips us up
- and which can make us experience some pretty nasty stuff.
<Another danger is a slow inclination towards sexual depravity, which is
definitely affecting some of the list members.
ALL YOGAS including Tantra Kundalini require TOTAL CELIBACY except
Married Sex.
Tantra Kundalini usually requires total abstention from ejaculatory
intercourse.>
Are you totally sure about all this?
