Hi Jay,
I totally agree: so many people suffer with one of
them indulges in drugs.
I've lost many of my friends to 'trips gone bad' during
the 70's, but especially my best friend who used that
pecurliar
logic of drug users: it's great, it doesn't hurt anyone, so
why not?...
The point is, it DOES hurt others. I still haven't
gotten over her loss. I grew up with her and she died so
very
young. She was also very brilliant and artistic, and
kind and sweet (and feisty, too!) And her
family still mourns for her, too. Those were 10 sad years
of watching her leave us, bit by bit, mentally and then,
finally
physically.
I think we North Americans are so many times focusing on
only ourselves and what will make US as individuals happy.
What we sometimes
fail to understand is that only when we can make others
happy
can we make ourselves happy. That's been my experience,
anyway.
For the reason you state: 'I am not a superhuman"...is
why I also have never indulged in drugs. No matter what the
ecstacy might be, I would simply be leaving too many other
people I love, behind. It's like being sober and being
around
someone who is high on a drink; really really weird and sad.
