Just some general observations:
Singing the praises of psychedelic drugs to me is a little like singing the
praises of elective cosmetic surgery. Some folks need a little, some folks
go overboard. You can not necessarily undo any negative afteraffects.
Not everyone is biochemically, mental, emotionally or spirtually wired to
find divinity in a psychedelic experience. Despite the glorious testimonials
of adherents, many people have damaged themselves beyond repair with
pschedelic drugs.
It has been my experience that people who spend (or have spent) a great deal
of time tripping can end up pushing themselves farther and farther away from
day-to-day life, sometimes unable to even interact in a coherent fashion with
the "real" world. How well do their hallucinations serve them then? What
good is it to have imagined wondrous things as the result of biochemical
reactions in the body when it can alienate one from the business of being
here? To me, it seems rather escapist and self-serving. Of course, I'm
speaking of extreme, tho not rare, situations.
Escaping my work,
Melissa
