I see that the reason for ppl telling other ppl to avoid drugs is simple.
It's the way empathy works. When other person is suffering because of
drugs, we also suffer. However, when other person is enjoying his time on
drugs, we don't feel anything. He is in his own mind, unreachable by us.
Big deal. When we average the suffering and ecstasy, we will reach a zero
or a negative value, even though the drug fiend himself may be on the
positive side.

I have to confess that in the initial phase, when I wasn't too sure about
my k, I wished that I had just kept using psychedelics, instead of
meditation. Luckily I'm not there anymore, and later it turned out that k
was just what I had wanted. Psychedelics are child's play compared to k.
