Well, I have not been able to find the exact references as yet for you because of a lack of time, but someone on this list might like to follow this up ...

Some little time ago, the BBC produced a documentary about some genetic research done within Judaism.

What they found was that no matter where abouts in the world the DNA sample was taken from a practising Jew ...

The DNA sample contained specific and identifiable "markers" which could be traced back to samples over 2000 years old

which were not present in other cultures with a non Jewish background
