Watched something on TV that really moved me. Showed the story of Lance
who was involved in the Columbine School shooting. He was shot in the
foot,face and abdomen. He's going back to school in September.
After the show I thought, ,what more education does this kid need? His
perceptions have been stretched so far.
He knew the terror of looking at the gunman.He knew mass hysteria. He
knows distortion of his appearance. He has seen the abilities of the
doctors. He knows the love of his Father who pureed all his food for him
and constantly travels with him,worrying about the upcoming school year.
Lance got the thrill of seeing Arrowsmith even do a special tribute to
him during one of his concerts,and because he has not enough insurance
for the much needed future facial operations, an Afro American
kid,(can't recall his name) is running for money and has raised 18,000
dollars for him. What goodwill and what love! And what a stretch between
loving compassion and murderous perversion. And yes, he could not
realize one without the other but I started thinking of this stretching
that's going on. Seems we,as a world are being stretched.
When I stop and look around, I see in every area this tremendous mind
and heart expansion( not through drugs but as I wrote above) the
comprehending abilities pushed to the limits. Extreme evil/extreme good.
No more la dee da content lives. From the ubiquitous cancer,to school
shootings,to the good/evil of the internet, to the tearing down of the
Presidency,to going postal etc.even to road rage, (which I believe is
caused by stress and all the chemicals consumed)but perhaps it is a
symptom of the stretching about to snap.These weren't around when I was
a kid. The mind and the heart have to be brought to ever expanding
horizons via the emotions so that that 90 percent of our brain that we
aren't using will come alive.
Internal evolution. I don't see mankind changing in outward appearance
of evolution anymore. It's all internal now. The "strings" of the
heart, the ability to comprehend the most absurd situations leading to
a fuller functioning of the intellect.
It's all internal now and you know what? I think we're doing it to
ourselves."Why, oh why did God allow......"? He/She didn't. We are
causing the leap in internal evolution. Just look around.
And may we keep the composure,grace and calmness that I saw in Lance
today.
