Hi all,
Thanks for the responses.
Having finally had time to read Dharma's very informative chart info
(especially those Sabian symbols, which I'm new to - well interesting!), it
spurred me to go to the library and double-check my own input. Here are
some quotes from a few good astrologers I found.
They apply to the Earth-centred chart that Dharma drew up, so the aspects
they describe are about the Earth, and those on it generally. I recommend
kicking back with a beverage of your choice, and allow the info to meld
together as it seems to want to... :) [square brackets are my comments...]
Hope this helps us home in on the old energy weather... :) Incidentally,
it's going to impact on my personal chart more than somewhat and no little
(hits on a series of squares and conjunctions in my chart...), so 'scuse me
if I drop a line in during the period which sounds like I'm processing
rather than informing. :)
Stephen Arroyo, in Astrology, Karma and Reincarnation:
Squares:
Show where energy must be *released*, usually through action of a definite
sort, in order that a new structure may be built... Many astrologers have
written that the Square aspect has the nature of Saturn: what you *have* to
deal with. Another Saturnian quality related to the Square is fear... [what
a surprise...]
Oppositions:
Since they involve planets in harmonious signs, often indicate a degree of
over-stimulation in the person's energy field which manifests most
intensely as a life challenge in the area of personal relationships. There
is often a marked lack of objectivity since the individual tends to engage
in projection of different sides of his nature onto others; and thus there
is often difficulty in distinguishing what is yours and what is somebody
else's. [:)]
[Put those together -- the Grand Cross does -- and you get a kind of
therapeutic crisis, imo]
Saturn square Sun/Moon:
Often a fear of expressing what one truly is in very essential ways: fear
of critiscism or being wrong or inadequate often leads to a fear of trying
anything new. One must stabilize one's sense of self and one's self-image
in a new way, in the light of one's *current* abilities, achievements and
strengths rather than in reference to past errors, faults or limitations
(ie one's karmic inheritance) [!].
Saturn in the 12th house:
A period when you meet the results of all the thoughts, actions, desires,
and activities that you have engaged in during the last Saturn cycle
through the houses... it is the end of an old cycle [!]: and hence, one
often experiences discontent, confusion, disorientation, and a feeling of
emotional-mental confinement as the old life-structures begin to
collapse... And the prevailing feelings of being spaced out or lost are
usually strongest during the 1st year of this phase [we're past that
now...], until one has consolidated new values and new, more refined
attitudes towards life itself.
It is therefore a time of defining one's ideals and ultimate spiritual
orientation [this will be deepened by Pluto in Sagittarius, imo], and many
people spend this period experimenting with various approaches to life
after having shed the old attachments which have now proven to be quite
empty and lifeless.... It is an excellent time for study of spiritual,
mystical or occult subjects, and many people also feel particularly drawn
to musical, poetic, or visionary expression during this time since what
they are feeling cannot be expressed in logical or rationalistic terms...
Health problems are not uncommon at this time, and they are usually
psychosomatic, hard to diagnose ailments which only psychological/spiritual
therapy will affect... [Possibly then with the Uranian aspect, this may
manifest in epilepsy, nervous system disorders, palpitations of the heart,
accidents (actions not as planned) etc. We may be able to use these as
barometers of energies that need release, structures that need dissolving,
in others or oneself. I reckon it could be done immediately, if the insight
is there -- see Uranus stuff below...] However, what is most disorienting
about this period is that the individual has no firm boundaries or solid
anchors to hold onto. One is awaiting and preparing for the birth of new
structure, but that won't even begin to be built until Saturn has crossed
the Ascendant into the 1st house... [not long, but I can't be exact on that
right now...]
About Uranus:
More than any other planet, Uranus represents the level of consciousness
where one thinks and acts in a *both/and* way rather than in an *either/or*
fashion. Thus a Uranian person [or a person who is processing that
energy...] usually expresses some of both polarities - positive *and*
negative; and he may even express both simultaneously! [This implies that
Uranus, though destabilising, is actually about balance and union!]
... The transformative meaning of Uranus aspects may be summed up by saying
that Uranus serves the purpose of radically repolarising an individual's
approach in a particular area of life and *rapidly cutting away all traces
of past life patterns* [my emphasis].
>From Planets and Planet-Centred Astrology, by Stephanie Jean Clement:
Uranus:
relates to the 7th ray energy [The will to be and the will to know
simultaneously on all planes of manifestation], and to the Wheel of Fortune
in the Tarot. Uranus rules the heavens, Gaea rules the Earth... They united
to give birth to the Titans and Saturn, among others.
[!] Rhythm - the biological correspondent, is found in the movement of
breath, the opening and closing of chambers of the heart, the pulsing of
blood through the system. All rhythms of the body, brain wave patterns,
galvanic skin reponse, anything that embodies the outward movement of
impulse and the inward movement of response in the body are examples of
Uranian rhythm.
Uranus must be very close to an exact aspect before an event will occur. A
trigger from Mars or the Moon transit [!] may be required to set off the
event. In actuality, the energies working for the event have been a long
time in coming along with a potential to examine them.
Back to Stephen Arroyo:
Thus with Uranus in close aspect to personal planets (especially to Sun,
Moon, and Mercury) one has the ability to draaw forth information and
knowledge from other dimensions in a split second to deal with any problem.
The only thing needed to utilise this information is a keen ability to
discriminate between true, objective knowledge and mere fanatical,
emotion-charged opinions.
(Arroyo also emphasises the sporadic nature of the Uranian rhythm...)
Just want to add:
IMHO, This business is about process, not judgement. If we get into the
latter, the Saturnian/Uranian energies will block into old fear patterns,
and we don't need that anymore. Breathe through the fear, loosen the knots,
stay grounded and keep the heart open.
:-)
Love,
Robert
