Hi Amanda I recently heard that the shruti is not heard by the body's ears. It is heard only by awake inner aware as Self it seems .. Other than that I can't answer your question. It's a good one though!
As far as I know .. the shruti is the first vibration from absolute silence/stillness .. so to hear them both, shows excellent perception of a fascinating range of existence in consciousness. It is said shruti is teh sounds of natural law as Atma reverberates withing itself creating from within itself the laws to create matter and life on all levels. It is said if you hear the shruti then you can become a master of Natural Law .. (whatever that means ;-)
Luv,
Col
