It seems that several themes came up here. Unfortunately, it isn't easy dwelling into each and everyone, because I'm EXTREMLY busy at the physical plane in an underground war against the corruption within the material power centers.
Dharma mentioned "bright reddish purple...". What You describe is none of the 7 Rays. The 3rd Ray of Love (emanating from Venus in our solar system) is Pink. The 6th Ray (emanating from Saturn) is Violet.
The seven Flames is the seven aspects of the Godhead. In the Jewish Tradition, they are called Elohim, a plurality form of Alhim. There will probably come a day when our *scientists* recognize the occult meaning of Genesis,1.1:
"B'raisheeth barah elohim ath hashama' yem v'ath haa'retz"
"With Wisdom, the elohim created Heaven and Earth".
The seven flames, the seven elohim (plurality form of alhim, Ah-hi in the language among the inhabitans of Atlantis) created Yin and Yang.
The colours of the Flames must not be confused with the colours of the chakras. The former relates to the Godhead, the latter to human aura.
However - Dharma - when following the *8-folded Path*:
1) True Concepts about the World
2) Significant, important actions
3) Do not Lie; do not speek to much or to little
4) Act in ways which doesn't disturb your environment (avoid karma)
5) Live Balanced; no stress, no laziness
6) Do not be a slave of our material culture. Understand your Spiritual
duties
7) Learn from everything (both success and mistakes)
8) Contemplation
that is, living in accordance to the 8 Virtues consciously, the throath Chakra often emanates red-purple and pink. This is a suggestion to explain Dharma's observation. People reject these 8 habits, often emanates orange and redbrown colours from the throath Chakra. This is, however, not a waterproof explanation, since we have several auras within one seemingly coherent aura, and colours in each of the three auras means different things.

What I really was intending to discuss with Heffernan was, however, neither Flames nor colours.

Heffernan is touching one of the greatest mysteries in the science of pranayama. It is one of the most hidden secrets, hitherto, of Eastern esoterism. It is also the forgotten Key to what once was *Alchemy* in Europe.
The Yin-Yang symbol shows two drops of water, each going in an opposite, counterpart balancing direction. The Ying-Yang symbol shows water in circulation.
Upwards the beach ... (male, Kundalini upwards the spine, giving Strength)
Downwards the beach ... (female, the force moves downwards, giving Rest)
That which circulates during these Ebb and Flow process, is the Pearl of Compassion, the Essence of our very Being, symbolized by the two smaller circles in the Yin-Yang symbol.
The Pearl of Compassion, dropped downwards to Manipura ("The home of the Jewel"), the solar plexus chakra, by our Holy Guardian Angel, is the real food for contemplation. These Jewel - these Pearl -is the *Philosophers Stone*, mentioned by Alchemists ! The symbol of these Stone, used in Alchemy in medievial ages, is CARBON.
We all learn in school, that we inhale Oxygen and exhale Carbon. Vegetables perform the opposite process: They inhale Carbon and exhale Oxygen. Vegetables and humans/animals needs each other in these process.
Hypothetically, if we had vegetables inside our body, producing the necessary oxygen, we wouldn't need to breathe. The breathing process could stop, beeing replaced by an inner breathing. This is even more than a pure hypothesis, because - of what OTHER reason is a chakra also called a LOTUS?
Furthermore, the Yantra (meditation symbol) of Manipura is a Golden Lotus and it's photosyntesis.
The three colours in these chakra are Yellow, Green and Brown. Yellow symbolizes the Sun (Solar Plexus). The green is the stilk of the lotus. And Brown is the Earth from which it grows.
The Jewel or the Pearl in Manipura, is also refered to as a DIAMOND. And a Diamond IS Carbon. In order to generate these Diamond, we must, figuratively speaking, *become a vegetable*, transforming the chakras to *lotuses*.
And the way of doing these is exhaling oxygen. When the breathing stops, as the end result of pranayama, we do not *hold* the breathe. We exhale it, without inhaling.
The deepest secret in Kriya Yoga is mentioned in Bhagavad Gita: The process of surrending the inhalation to the exhalation and the exhalation to the inhalation. This is the secret of Ascension, the way Jesus transformed his physical body into pure Light. This is the way Babaji transformed his physical body into light, since the *Babaji* who was the master teacher of Yoganandas guru's guru - was not a physical incarnation, but a Light Body manifestation - of Kut Humi.
The feminine part of the circulation is the breathing out. It is the relaxation of getting rid of oxygen. And this is the first part of Gita's teaching: To surrend the inhalation to the exhalation.
Food for the thought?
