Subject: [K-list] Function of Ego

As I stood out on the deck earlier, smoking and reveling in the sheer heat
and humidity that is so much of summer here, I pondered what the function of
Ego could be. We seem to run from it, chasing down divinity, as though ego
where some redheaded stepchild. Is the path towards divinity truly the
opposite direction of ego? Meanwhile, the twilight air, golden from the
setting sun, deep green on the trees and confounded kudzu, couldn't muster
any motion under the weight of the itself. Sultry, indeed.
Maybe ego is just a face we put on our free will. hmmm. It's ours just the
same. It must serve a purpose beyond being something to try and sneak away
from. I'm sure Mystress will say to just be grateful for it! LOL!
I thought about wise people, mystics, and how removed they seemed from the
everyday world. Either that, or so very present and unREactive to swirling
circumstances around them. Somehow that seems un-engaged in the act of
living. Or perhaps merely what I've convinced myself living is about . . .
With all this thinking and smoking, I can't help but come back to the fact
that when all is said and done on this earthly plane, we are measured (on
this earthly plane) by how deeply we reached into other people. Or is that
another illusion I've dreamed up somewhere along the line. hmmm. No,
service seems to be a common tenet in religions around the world. Where
would kundalini fall in all that? Where would ego fit?
Perhaps I should just go watch Nash Bridges.
Flotsam-ing and Jetsam-ing,
Melissa
