Hi Hillary,
In a message dated 99-07-13 21:03:19 EDT, you write:
Since celibacy can lead to mystic experiences, the ancient religious
communities seemed to jump to the false (in my opinion) conclusion that
mystic experience is God's reward, and that God prefers celibacy. Not
exactly logical, but understandable.
My own experience has led me to the realization that sex can lead to "mystic"
experiences as well as celibacy.
So....my questions are...
1. How many of us feel that our K awakening had anything to do with
celibacy. (celibacy being defined as having no sexual partner for an
extended length of time)
For me, at the time it didn't have anything to do with celibacy.
2. How many of us became intentionally celibate after K awakening.
Nope, just the opposite. Awakening, to me, means awakening all parts of our
self.
3. For those who are sexually active, do you find that sexual activity
affects your K energy one way or another?
Yeah. Sometimes it inhibits it (yin), and at other times it expands it like
crazy (yang). I do think some of this depends on sexual partners. Someone
referred recently to "men feeling like sex saps their energy" and being a
male I would like to respond to that. For me, it is based on partners (not
to mention love, trust, honesty, and communication). But, if for example,
you have a partner who can't maintain the integrity of their own energy field
and that their energy leaks out then sex with that individual (until the
"leaks" are taken care) could be draining energetically. And I also believe
that the fear of having your energy "sapped" is worse than the actual
experience.
The opposite would also seem to be accurate. Being sexually active with a
partner who has ample amounts of energy (who has a relatively open chakra
system) could lead to deeply profound experiences and be real energizing.
Overall I feel like sex feeds and nourishes the chakra system. From the
physical level the simple, but complex, undulating movement of the hips helps
to keep that area alive, open and moving. I understand that yoga could
accomplish the same thing. But sometimes it just isn't as fun.
Any other thoughts on the subject?
Sure. I believe that an intimate union between two people who trust, love,
and can openly and congruently communicate with each other can lead to
beautiful, wonderful, healing places. And that the only side effect is
increased energy and some insight about what is means to be human.
