Dear List,
Just came across an interesting little pamphelet called "Leaves from a
Diary--1933-34" by Leena Sarabhai who, as a young woman, spent time on
shipboard with Krishnamurti.
There are a couple of particularly interesting quotes The first is
interesting in that it shows his K awakening was not spontaneous:
"I had heard about 'kundalini' so I tried to develop that condition and read
about it in a book called *The Serpent Power.* <snip>
"As a result of my experiments over the last six or seven years to awaken the
kundalini, it was released from the chakra at the base of the spinal cord.
... "
The second quote is relevant to the pain/pleasure discussions. It's common
knowledge that he suffered head pain:
"Krishnaji, as before, had pain in the head. For this reason, he stayed all
by himself in Holland for a month. I said to him, "Since you have such pain,
why don't you consult some doctors?"
He said, "It is not pain. It is an inexplicable joy."
Love, Hillary
