  I think in invocative prayer, the act of asking helps one to clarify
their own intentions.Example,,,Lord,please help me to ;quit
smoking,drinking etc. (fill in blank) Just this act alone, (answered or
not) sets up a clearer vibration and reinforces the commitment for the
individual. Then there is contemplative prayer where nothing is asked
for. And also there is ejaculatory prayer where one is abiding with and
in the Godhead and spontaneous outbursts occur,
"Praised be my Lord!!!", or simply "Hosanna in the Highest",
"Alleluia!!" Or times when one is near ecstasy and cannot speak.Each of
these are valuable and I think, instinctively a part of our humanness.
Our little spark, responding to the Flame.

  I heartily agree. It can be as simple and as silent as bending the
knee in adoration of Holy Mysteries,sighing at a beautiful
sunset,thrilling inside with awe when seeing the new born baby or calmly
closing the eyes and the physical life during transition.
