Dear Arinna,

:) I am not familiar with the exercises you describe,
but I assume all meditational exercises with or without
chakra work may awaken K in the susceptible.

Since the energy you felt only went about half way
up your spine, my personal opinions is that you may
have experienced a movement of prana, the life force.

Prana is interconnected with K, but they are not
quite the same. (Depends on how you define things).

>me and said that I had tapped kundalini and needed to
>proceed with care.

A message from a guide is a good indicator.
But maybe K has resided back down again ?

>From what I've read about
>tapping kundalini - YOU KNOW you've tapped it

No, not always. Many ppl become K active without
knowing what it is at all.

We all tap prana / K each day we wake up and live.
K is not tapped, it is activated to move on its
own accord through the mind/body.

>To tell you the truth, I really don't want to!! From the
>accounts I've read it does not sound like much fun.

:) Look at it this way. Everything could have happened.
Everything can happen at any moment.
You can get run over by a car every morning you walk to
work. You can contract TB by passing through the
supermarket. You can suffer a heart attack any time
of the day.
K is just another one of those things that happen. :)

We don't have control over the rest of the world.

I can only suggest you wait and see a little.
If you experience more symptoms, then it probably is K,
if not, then don't think about it. :)

If K was meant to awaken in you, then very little could
stop it.

>But if it's been tapped - it has... and I must deal
>with it intelligently.

There is no need to. K works intelligently by its
own accord and all you need to do is make room for it.
:)

>I would love to hear some perspectives from
>people who are K-active.

Stay on the list and read some of the posts, that will
give you an idea.

>Also, I bought the book, Kundalini and the Chakras, by
>Genevieve Lewis Paulson. Does anyone know if this a >good book

I found it good. Much better that all that Sex Tantra
you can get out there. In fact, Paulson's book is
something of the best you can get from Western sources.
Mantak Chias books on energy work are also good,
but he sees things from the Taoist perspective.
Paulson is familiar with the Indian perspective.
Paulson describes the personal
experience of K very well.
With "good" I mean reflected, written from personal
experience, with some knowledge of the Indian sources
and in a language everybody can understand.

Still, if you want to know more about the culture and
traditions which are most familiar with K,
read some
of the books by Georg Feuerstein. They can be ordered
directly by the publisher at www.shambhala.com

Let's hear how you're doing. :)

Best regards,

Amanda.
