The root meditation you describe, with the colored light is another version
of the "Grounding excercise" that I use to awaken K. in the subseptible.

By imaging the colored chakra lights this time, when the "doors of
perception" were already weakened with sleep deprivation and meds, you asked
your unconscious to open your chakras. Wake the Serpents.. and it did. Blessed

I do have some comments on your preceeding illness, tho.. this could be a
not
unusual effect called "Shamanic sickness".. Did you have any unusual contact
with Spirit, in the days preceeding your illness? Tour any temples, or take
part in any spiritual rituals? Imagine having a conversation with some form of
Diety or Idol?
My gut says Yes, you did. You and It have chosen each other, When the Seeker
is ready, the Teacher appears, and it is often an internal guide. The illness
is it renovating your body to become a Temple.. formally surrender to it, and
accept it's guidance and assistance, and you will feel better.
I was born awakened, but I suffered Shamanic sickness after doing
Psychometry
on the ancient idol of Chacmool, the Rain God of the Yucatan while visiting
the
Pyramids of Chichen Itza in Mexico. I didn't know I'd wake him up...:) That

They say of Shamen, that the spirits choose them, and train the Shaman
directly.. I think there is more free will to it than that, altho in
hindsight, it certainly seems like Chac drew me to Mexico to bring him back to
rainy Vancouver.. :) I won both the trip to mexico and the trip to Chichen
Itza
as prizes in a draw.
The stories say, after the first meeting with the spirit, when one is
chosen,
usually a terrible illness follows. Sometimes it is fatal. The initiate Shaman
is tested, for thier ability to surrender.. but I think an aspect of it is
also
the renovations for the new Temple.. what most K. symptoms are.. the body
being
abruptly upgraded to handle higher energies, the immune system being
engaged to
remove toxins.
If the person survives, then they have become a new Shaman. The secret to
survival is surrender...
I think awakening predisposes someone to Shamanism, generally one already
has enough psi ability to connect with the spirits in the first place, in
order
to be chosen by them. However, it is not always so. Sometimes the Shamanic
initiation comes first. Most all of these minor dieties, are shamanic forms of
the K. serpent, Earth energy spirits, Devas who have individuated and attained
consciousness thru human worship of them. What you give your attention to,
grows.. ;) They manifest as guides for the process. Teachers.
Winged serpent, feathered serpent, rainbow serpent, sacred Cobra, Serpent
Goddess .. Different forms of Kundalini Serpent, Goddess Shakti appearing in
shamanic universal forms.
My beloved was in Thailand on business, last month, wearing my symbol
around
her neck and thinking of herself as mine. A week after she arrived there, she
called me on the phone, seeking healing from an illness that I could tell had
her worried. I felt like she would be fine, without a doubt.. I could see her
safe return. I told her this, and reassured her of my remote presence and my
blessings. For the next few days following I felt her tugging at my thoughts,
sometimes, as my students do when they need me, and gave her a healing hug by
remote. (So easy, now, to reach out with my mind and know someone.. connect.)
Sometimes imaging my visit in detail, other times simply sending love and
letting Goddess decide what form it takes on the other end.
I had forgotten that I had shown her the painting I did of my Fire
Serpent
aspect.. a manifestation of my being that is the K. itself. When she presented
me with a gift, a tiny golden cobra with it's tail coiled into an infinity
symbol, exactly like the painting.. it brought a tear to my eye.
Then she told me the strange tale of her illness, and feeling my
prescence
in my own, and my Fire Serpent form, not just in spirit but also all around
her.. and feeling the form of the golden cobra, who is a Thai protector
spirit, whose idol sits guarding the temples. The Naga..

She could mitigate the illness with meditation long enough to do her work,
stop her shaking hands and appear healthy but the nights were harsh.. she had
been frightened.
Something about all that was a thump of recognition.
I remembered becoming ill while still in Mexico, and bargaining with Chac
and Goddess to please postpose the illness till I was home in my own bed.. it
worked, but after I got home I was very sick, my roommate was afraid I would
die. It was not till years later, reading a book on Shamanism, that I
recognised that my illness had indeed been a side effect of my connecting with
Chacmool, and agreeing to be trained as Priestess.
I asked my beloved if she had connected with any of the Naga Serpents prior
to her illness? Had she noticed one that seemed to have a look in it's
eye..??
She had toured a temple three days previous, that had them big and covered
beautifully in gold leaf.. made her think of me, and my mark on her.. her
bliss
in surrender to me.. Naga approved, and she was chosen. :) She agreed, she had
found no better explanation for her mysterious illness.
I congratulated her on her new status: Shaman.. and we chatted about how,
as Serpent sisters she had been chosen by a "living" serpent diety, that was
still actively worshipped by millions of people, where I had woken one that
had
slumbered unaware, untouched by human consciousness for hundreds of years... I
still remember Chac's surprise, at seeing the ruins of his temple thru my
eyes,
tourists wandering everywhere.. seeing how it had been, thru his eyes too.. it
it's glory.. whenever I think of that I get the feeling that Chacmool isn't
"at" Chichen Itza anymore.. a nonsensical thought, since these beings really
exist outside of space-time.. in the collective consciousness.. but a
persistent thought.. there is nothing for him to do there.. so probably it's
Chac telling me yes..:)
An odd thought, too. the guy who excavated Chichen Itza was accused of
smuggling national treasures out of Mexico.. had a conversation with a Native
Shaman once where he was bitching about white folks stealing culture.. uh,
well.. Chac liked me better than the Mexicans, what can I say? shrug..
I am wondering if these stories ring bells? I have an intuition that
shamanic sickness, like K., is much more common than anyone guesses.. has
anyone else had a severe but passing illness, after connecting with a spirt?
