Done that many times, it is quite informative.

Which does happen. Or maybe should happen more often ?

In your views, what are the illusions being wanted
to live up to ?
That they're right ? That they have an enemy image ?

I am truly sorry for you. It is an illusion I wished
you could have kept for a little while longer, or
lost in a less abrupt way. There is something about
losing illusion, there is another way the process by
which this happens. It doesn't have to be brutal
all of it. If that makes me sound soft, or ego
filled or ignorant or anyhting else perceived as
negative, I am sorry for you for that too.

Which is not going to happen as very few politicians
do much deep introspection at all. Sadly.

You asked, I will provide my view and my
answer. Many ppl will probably find my
answer disgustingly fact filled and logical but
see that as another illusion to be lost
and anothe lesson to be had,
logic has its place in K and the world too.
The illusion that Milosevic is destroying is the
illusion that as long as you don't bother anyone else,
stay on friendly terms with others, mind your
own business, you're going to be treated as nicely as
you treat others and not be bothered yourself.
This is the illusion destroyed for the Kosovo
Albanians as well as the Serbs,
who can't for the life of them figure out what wrong
they have done.
It is the illusion that ppl in the neighbouring regions
and we live under and the illusion which Nato tries
to uphold.
This is the age old illusion destroyed by Napoleon and
Hitler and anyone else who get it in their head to conquer something which in one way or another
already belongs to somebody
else.
Of course, there are many other smaller illusion
destroyed here, the illusion of safety in your own
home, the illusion of friendly coexistence, the illusion that conflicts may be solved peacefully
with words. Every person directly involved in the
conflict experiences the destruction of these illusions
on their own bodies.
We are lucky to not have to be there in person.
I do not know whether these are good illusion to lose,
but lost they are, at least for a while and it is very
traumatic in most instances. It is easy to see it is
traumatic, all
one need is contemplate the victims' faces.
This is the
very fierce nature of destruction and
war, both of which I am intimately familiar with.
I believe the lesson is vigilance and awareness, to
watch and sample and watch some more. To be aware of
how and why destructive regimes and people may rise
to power and do their work unhindered by what one
thought was common sense in humans.
The lesson is to understand that
the unthinkable might happen here too, and
in me as well.
The illusions destroyed for those directly involved in
the conflict is the illusion that war is the path to glory and peace and
that the leader of the regime/nation cares
for those who fight.
The lesson for these ppl is to realize the true face
of war.
These lessons
should have been the lesson for the 20th century,
but it is
one which seems to stick very slowly and is
easily and quickly
forgotten. Or perhaps was never learned at all,
except in those who directly experienced it on their
own bodies. It may be time to learn again.
End of communication.
Eagerly awaiting your barrage.
Best regards,
Amanda.
