Only way to answer this question is to look deep within yourself - why
does it feel so bad, why is it wrong; or why shouldn't it be wrong? Why
does it disturb you, what would be your ideal world and why this world
here isn't ideal? Question is not "Why", it's "Why not?".

Actually, it's the third option. :)
Free will doesn't mean that there is no Gods plan. There is, and we
can't do anything that would not be in it. If we kill somebody or if we
don't - it's all part of Gods plan, we can't do anything against God's
plan.
I look at it this way - Gods plan has "if" clauses for every possible
our action. It's the giant computer game (maybe Doom or Duke Nukem ;) ).
We can do everything, kill everybody or let ourselves be killed; or we
can educate ourselves, or have sex and produce other characters in game.
But it's all in the game.
However, we can exit the game when we're tired of playing. Then we're
not Duke Nukem anymore.
The point of Gods plan is that we become tired of game at one point and
exit. Everything else, including high scores, is just an irelevant
game... :)

It is not wrong to influence and shape events. That why we're here.
The only question is "how do you know that you're doing the best thing".
When you think that you should only do 'good' things, then you
inevitably stumble upon question "but what is 'good' really?" - and the
answer is that there is no way you could know what is 'good'. The next
question is "why should I do 'good' anyway, if I can't tell what is
really good?".
