As a Simplified Kundalini Yoga (SKY) teacher, I have come to realize that
those who come to me are, as I, cautious by nature...seemingly stumbling into
gentle, but profound, peak experience with what others perceive as
devastatingly explosive.

My awareness of different approaches/ experiences with even K, came about
when I first "unexpectedly" met Marharishi Vethathiri and my very first
comment to him had to do with Muktannanda's Play of Consciousness.
MV almost went through the roof...claiming that M's experience was not for the
West, where we do not have the cultural understanding or comfort zone with
K. awakening, i.e., that someone on a spiritual path mooing at the moon,
hearing voices, etc., is manifesting one of many ways to unfold...ways which
in the West can often lead to a completely unaware mental institution.

MV developed SKY for the West as a gradual aproach, involving body movements
and meditation in moderation...for those who want this gentler way and the
ability to stay in touch with the everyday Western family, culture. He stated
that one needn't roll ones eyes, go "crazy", etc.
MV's guidance fits my psyche since I believe we are co-creators custom
designing our experiences...so why not even with the K awakening!
My greater interest in this current discussion, however, is how the K-list is
once again being reflected in the dream body of my everyday life.
Tucson, USA, has just concluded a magnificent "Poetry and the Sacred"
weekend...including the highly acclaimed Robert Bly reading from Kabir as well
as from his own profound writings.

Two quotes in their opening publicity:
"If anything is sacred, the human body is sacred." Walt Whitham

And this (by poet J. Macarty giving a pre-conference overview), touches
exactly on one of the recent K-list comments on a root meaning of fear as awe:

"If you transpose the 'a' and the 'c' you have another word: scared, a sum,
often the result of the sensation of being overwhelmed. We are aware of fear
when from Mary Oliver's perspective 'something different crosses the
threshold'.
"Being scared is experiential; we know it when we feel it. Dare I say this
holds true for what is sacred?... Even those things you resist are sacred ...
Everything is sacred. Everything."

When I ask myself why has the K-list appeared in my life at this time, I am
beginning to suspect it is because I am being gently helped to the next step
in my evolution as has been the pattern of my reality... step by gentle step
is my way...at least so far! Yet, I salute those who embrace being
overwhelmed!

With reverence to the sublime Mother.... Namaste, Azure-i
