Hi, Marcy-

Just to add to the confusion -- I had a full hysterectomy over two years
ago and, like Dharma, began taking estrogen, and no longer had the night
sweats and other nasty side effects of my pre-menopausal state. Seven
months later Kundalini blasted through my lower chakras, and has very
gradually and gently, been making its way upward. From several people I
have talked to, this is a common age (I'm fifty) for Kundalini to begin
awakening in women. I think that the hormonal shift had a lot to do with
it.

Later, after receiving shaktipat, I had *hot flashes* when meditating
with a mantra that was used specifically to raise K-fire. These stopped
after a couple of months.

Go figure.
