Would you say that this does not have to all happen in one
life time, or in other words, one single physical incarnation.
That there comes a time, a certain incarnation where you
have experienced enough of the opposites and are now
ready to intrgrate and know peace.

Well!, So long as you are doing enough now the future will, as usual, take
care of itself!
We cannot plan a future path so just have to be as awake as possible in the
present moment.
Standard Zen Buddhist thinking there .........................
Look at the sky does it retain its pattern - A storm is soon gone!
Looking out the window right now I see a different sky to the one of an hour
ago.
The main point of my posting that quote was to say that the solving of
problems leads to vanity.
King Solomon had all the wealth of his day and still was discontented -
Saying all was vanity!
The poor artist produces their finest work.
The best films are made on a shoestring.
Look at the greatest writers of our past - Most were poor and in debt; It
was from this that gave their insight potency.
Wandered off of topic there, still my last name is Wand!
We can always find something else which is missing in our development.
From alchemy we discover:
AWARENESS
LEADS TO ENERGY
LEADS TO MATTER
LEADS TO TIME
LEADS TO SPACE
LEADS TO AWARENESS.
We start with a small amount of awareness which reduces matter into new
energy.
Taking this energy we can reduce time and thereby create new matter.
This matter will reduce space to create new time.
Time will reduce awareness into a new space.
Space reduces energy to create new awareness.
And so we return to the 'beginning'
Now comes the question of whether this is a 'closed' system OR 'expanding'
OR 'reducing'
That lies beyond my comprehension!
In my model there are three axis, at 90 degrees apart
1) Drive: The opposite ends being ENERGY and TIME.
2) Resource: The opposite ends being MATTER and SPACE.
3) Consciousness: The opposite ends being AWARENESS and NON-AWARENESS
We can then slide along these axis to arrive at our present state.
The middle point is where we should be aiming for.
We, however, oscillate between the ends never really being aware of our
centre.
We should seek the centre then we will become all things to all people and
not an extremist.
If we are too energetic then we collapse into peacefulness.
Too peaceful and we become war-like in the end.
Too materialistic and then we want spiritualistic things.
Even the spiritual becomes materialistic!
If we can find the middle then we will have both the ends unified as in the
quote:
The solution lies beyond polarity - yet in order to get there it is
necessary to
unite the poles and reconcile the opposites. This difficult art of uniting
the opposites can be mastered only by those who have fully acquainted
themselves with both poles.
To answer you question of how long this would take; How long is a piece of
string?
It is as long as you want it to be!
As for reincarnation, I am living multiple lives now!
My awareness of this fact has got me labeled 'Schizophrenic'
The internet comes to my rescue as I can have as many lives here and now as
I like.

So I am constantly changing my form with respect to events.
I have known good and evil, sin and virtue, right and wrong;
I have judged and been judged;
I have passed through birth and death, joy and sorrow, heaven and hell;
and in the end I realized that I am in everything and everything is in me.

The real answers are found within.
I have found that my way of meditation is writing on the keyboard.
I don't seem to suffer the pains of a lot folks around here!
