This is a phase I remember very well. The energy was so strong that sleeping
was practically impossible; instead of trying to sleep I used to listen to
music that would increase the energy to maximum. In that period, daily sleep
was less than 3 hours and it had no effects on functioning.

In my case, energy left the crown chakra. So I concentrated on it,
visualizing the energy to exit. Actually, sensations like "creepy crawlies"
denote flows of prana and by the aforementioned concentration, one can (to a
certain extent) influence (improve) the flow. Perhaps you know the story of
how the monk Totapuri introduced Ramakrishna to nirvikalpa samadhi: by
pressing a sharp piece of glass between the eyebrows, a little above the
root of the nose (third eye). Concentration on the sensation there will
influence the current of prana. In fact, this is the "secret weapon" of
Shabda yoga. Strong concentration on the third eye will prevent less
pleasant experiences associated with the first three centers to such an
extent, that it is claimed that Shabda yoga isn't involved with K :).
