NEW MOON CHART FOR PLANET EARTH
Tonight's New Moon will be exact at 10:14 pm EST (or March 28, 3:14 am
GMT). What follows is the Sabian symbols and a few comments on the pattern
of the chart of the Full Moon, especially in regard to its meaning for the
planet Earth. If you would like a copy of the chart itself, drop me an
email.
A horoscope is a map of the solar system (sometimes showing some stars) at
a particular moment in relation to a particular spot on Earth. This chart
is different. It ignores longitude and latitude and shows how the eclipse
will influence the planet as a whole.
The degrees of the planets and their relationship to each other are the
same at New Moon for anyone on earth. But the way the chart should be
turned, what should be shown overhead or in the East, varies with your
geographical location.
We don't have a natal or birth horoscope for the Earth itself, but I've
been told to use an Ascendant of 18 Taurus for charts for the Earth. So
when I do a chart for the Earth, the first house always begins at 18
Taurus. The Sabian symbol for that degree is:
[Repeat]
"TAURUS 18 (EARTH): A NEW CONTINENT RISING OUT OF THE OCEAN.
"KEYNOTE: The surge of new potentiality after the crisis.
"The 'technique' is simple: TO ALLOW the infinite Potential to operate in
unconstrained SPONTANEITY. This means to have reached a state in which the
conscious, rational ego is no longer a controlling factor."
This is a transit chart; it shows where the planets will be at the moment
of the New Moon, which is a conjunction of the Sun and Moon. There's no up
or down, because it isn't done for any one place on Earth. All it shows is
where the planets will be, what patterns they will make, and what houses of
the Earth's chart they will be in.
The chart is circular; imagine the Earth in the center. The pattern drawn
in the center circle shows the aspects the planets make to each other;
usually the pattern shows us a great deal. But this winter's close
concentration of planets is only gradually widening, and we see no major
patterns here except a stellium in Aries that includes the New Moon.
The New Moon, the conjunction of Sun and Moon, is the beginning of a new
monthly cycle. Energies are high, and it's a good time to meditate.
SUN and MOON in a chart show male and female, outer self and inner self,
the basic energy of the chart and the capacity to distribute the energies.
In this chart they are both at 7 degrees of Aries, the sign of the pioneer,
the innovator, new projects, Martian energy, and in the 11th house of group
consciousness, hope, wishes, and dreams, the natural house of Aquarius,
sign of the new age.
"ARIES 7 (Sun, Moon): A LARGE WOMAN'S HAT WITH STREAMERS BLOWN BY AN EAST
WIND.
"KEYNOTE: Protection and spirituaI guidance in the development of
consciousness.
"This somewhat strange image can be understood if every stated feature in
it is clearly analyzed without preconceptions. Here again we see a woman;
but now her head is covered with a large hat - a protection against the
forces of nature, i.e. cold and/or the penetrating rays of the sun. At this
emotional-cultural level ... the mental processes are still largely
undeveloped; thus they need protection from the elemental forces of life. A
too great openness to the Sky-energies and the 'spiritual' level could lead
to obsessions of one kind or another.
"The symbolic image implies a rather strong wind, thus the activity of some
more-than-material, and especially psychic, forces. These originated in the
East, traditionally the seat of spiritualizing and creative-transforming
influences. The woman's hat has streamers, which enable it not only to
respond to the wind but to indicate its source. In other words, the image
symbolizes a stage of development of consciousness in which the nascent
powers of the mind are both protected and influenced by energies of a
spiritual origin. This suggests a probationary stage in the process of
individualization. Under protective guidance a still most receptive person
(a woman) is being influenced by spiritual forces.
"...results which require PROTECTIVE FORMS (which is what a culture and
ethical precepts provide) and SENSITIVITY to spiritual energies."
MARS and MERCURY are still together (conjunct) in Mars' own sign, and now
conjunct SATURN (on the same degree as Mercury) at the beginning of the
earth's 12th house of hidden and secret things, psychic things, karma,
large institutions, things done in private, and research.
Mars is the action planet, planet of physical expression and energy,
traditionally the god of war. It is the second planet, with the Sun, that
shows the masculine principle and/or male figures. Mercury is lower mind
(intellect) and communication (speaking, writing). Mars and Mercury
together: intellect and communication in action, easy expression. Mercury
is stationary, turning retrograde, today, which makes its influence more
powerful. Saturn is the Great Teacher that brings lessons to be learned,
through which we grow. It is the principle of contraction and condensation,
planet of cold, slow things; attention to detail; practicality; and
traditional planet of death. Saturn with Mars and Mercury could show
a slowness or depression associated with body and intellect. The best way
to use this energy would be to employ Saturn's attention to detail and
order in careful work or research in physical or intellectual areas.
"ARIES 18 (Mars): THE MAGIC CARPET OF ORIENTAL IMAGERY.
"KEYNOTE: The use of creative imagination.
"A way of life refusing a hectic involvement in social competition and
waste-producing overproduction allows for the development of unattached and
transcendent understanding. The static floor (carpet) on which man's feet
(symbols of understanding) rest can become transformed into the means for
great flights of imagination and super-physical perception. The period of
rest from outwardly directed activity bound to collective normality
presents the creative mind with the possibility of surveying in dreams the
totality of the present-day social situation, thus 'to see whole.'
"... invokes the possibility of developing a new technique of perception, A
STRIFE-TRANSCENDING AND UNATTACHED OUTLOOK UPON EVERYDAY REALITY."
"ARIES 21 (Mercury, Saturn): THE GATE TO THE GARDEN OF ALL FULFILLED DESIRES.
"KEYNOTE: Abundance made possible by human togetherness and cooperation.
"... a symbol of apparently wide-open and effortless fulfillment. Alone, a
human being can barely survive in nature's great life drama; in organized
groups men can in due time fulfill their desires. The abundant life is in
theory open to all. At least this is the ideal, the great dream. This
symbol can also be given an erotic meaning, referring to womanhood. ... the
goal of happiness dominates the consciousness of cultural man, the more
validly so the more modest his desires. Religious philosophies, like
American New Thought, glorify this social feeling of abundance, glamorizing
it into an avid cosmic OPTIMISM and a cult of success.
These last three planets are sextile VENUS, still in very wide conjunction
with URANUS. Venus, ruler of the Earth chart, is now at the top of the
chart at the beginning of the 10th house of career and fame, public
appearance, etc.
Venus is the Minor Fortune, the planet of the emotions; beauty, sense of
beauty, and pursuits or occupations related to beauty; and social "savvy."
It is also the second symbol (with the Moon) of the feminine principle
and/or woman/women in a chart. Uranus, the higher octave of Mercury, is the
planet of intuition; high-level electric energy; sudden occurrences; and
strange, unusual, exotic things and people. It is a triple sign and
considered bisexual. It's the ruler of Aquarius, sign of the new age.
"AQUARIUS 20 (Venus): A DISAPPOINTED AND DISILLUSIONED WOMAN COURAGEOUSLY
FACES A SEEMINGLY EMPTY LIFE.
"KEYNOTE: The capacity to meet emotionally upsetting experiences in human
relationships with strength of character and personal integrity.
"The man who manages vast and complex business enterprises most often
reaches power and achieves success because of his ability to deal with
crises and temporary reverses of fortune. At the emotional level we now see
a 'woman' confronted with sharp disappointment and forced to face the
vanishing of cherished illusions, presumably in terms of a close personal
relationship. She has to learn to manage such crises, which are really
tests of inner strength and perhaps compassion. We all have within
ourselves the power to learn through emotional crises. But like any other
faculty it needs development.
"... [This symbol] urges us to develop RESILIENCE under adversity."
Uranus is opposite a group of three stellar objects at 8-9 Leo - the two
Aselli (Asses) and the beautiful cluster Praesepe. The old books call 8 Leo
a "degree of blindness," but I have found it to be prominent in the charts
of spiritual/psychic people. So I think those degrees have to do with
light, insight, illumination, etc.
[repeat]
"AQUARIUS 11 (URANUS): ON A VAST STAIRCASE STAND PEOPLE OF DIFFERENT TYPES,
GRADUATED UPWARDS.
"KEYNOTE: The necessity of recognizing differences of types and levels of
development wherever human beings live and work together.
"... a symbol of 'ascent'... the NATURAL PROGRESSION OF STATES OF
CONSCIOUSNESS...."
NEPTUNE is the planet of the subconscious and inspiration from/through it,
illusions, delusions, and dreams. It is in the 9th house of religion and
philosophy.
[repeat]
"AQUARIUS 1 (NEPTUNE): AN UNEXPECTED THUNDERSTORM.
"KEYNOTE: The need to develop the inner security which will enable us to
meet unexpected crises.
"... an event for which ONE IS NOT PREPARED - a menace to men's works.
"...NATURE'S CHALLENGE."
Neptune is conjunct Altair (alpha Aquilae), "a pale yellow star sometimes
called the 'Bird of Jove.' From that you may gather that its influence in a
nativity bestows prophetic vision, a serious mind."
Neptune and Uranus are sextile Pluto, now retrograde (energy more inwardly
turned). PLUTO, planet of death, transformation, and rebirth; sex; the
occult; change that may appear sudden but has been growing for some time;
depth psychology; and things that are underground or come from underground
[Kundalini?], is in the Earth's house of marriage and partnership.
Pluto is still near conjunction with Antares (alpha Scorpii) and opposite
Aldebaran (alpha Tauri). This axis is extremely powerful and the energies
are difficult to handle.
"SAGITTARIUS 7 (Pluto): WITHIN THE DEPTHS OF THE EARTH NEW ELEMENTS ARE
BEING FORMED.
"KEYNOTE: The alchemical fire which both purifies and transforms the very
substance of man's inner life.
"Forces are at work in the deepest layers of the psyche which in their own
way respond to the outer stimulation produced by a strong involvement in
group ambitions and emotions, and even more by the powerful tensions and
releases of love. An alchemical process goes on, usually unnoticed by the
conscious ego, until it becomes obvious that a kind of mutation has taken
place and a new level of awareness and of responses to life has been
reached.
"[Here] we deal with both the basic rhythm of growth of the human being and
the reaction to more individualized experiences which aroused the emotions.
The very substance of the person's nature undergoes modifications, on the
basis of which a new step may be taken. The symbol draws our attention to
the inner changes. We have to become aware of them. What is implied is a
kind of PSYCHIC GESTATION."
JUPITER, the Major Fortune, the principle of expansion, is now just past
the Moon's South Node (the Dragon's Tail), in the East considered a point
of group karma. It is still square Pluto but now trine Chiron.
"PISCES 12 (Jupiter): AN ANCIENT SWORD, USED IN MANY BATTLES, IS DISPLAYED
IN A MUSEUM.
"KEYNOTE: Through the effectual use of his will a consecrated man can
become a symbol of courage for all those who follow in his footsteps.
"Will power is the ultimate spiritual weapon, and its undeviating use is
the certification of individual worth. Wherever found, this symbol
emphasizes the imperative need to make use of the will in meeting the basic
challenges of the inner life as well as outer adversaries.
"...We see singled out and strongly emphasized the one power in man which
is an assurance of victory in the contests generated by social (or occult)
processes in which he has become an active part. The individual must use
that WILL POWER, yet it is not really his own once he operates at a
spiritual level. It is God's will operating through his mind which focuses
its thrusts. It is, occultly speaking, the power of the Brotherhood - the
energy of the Whole operating through the one-pointed individual who has
made this Whole aware of the need for its use in a particular situation."
"PISCES 9 (South Node): AN AVIATOR PURSUES HIS JOURNEY, FLYING THROUGH
GROUND-OBSCURING CLOUDS.
"KEYNOTE: Man's ability to develop powers and skills which by transcending
natural limitations allow him to operate in mental-spiritual realms.
"...the dedication to the community of men (present and future),
self-assertion and the ambition to reach a social goal. Man is seen
mastering difficulties implied in a type of operation transcending his
organic limitations and the narrow boundaries of a localized "living
space." He does so as an individual in command of powerful energies, but
also as heir to the industry of countless innovators and managers.
"This [symbol] evokes the achievement of MASTERY."
The North Node or Dragon's Head is conjunct Zosma (delta Leonis) at 10
Virgo. This star is often found in the horoscopes of bisexual/homosexual
people.
"VIRGO 9 (North Node): TWO HEADS LOOKING OUT AND BEYOND THE SHADOWS.
"KEYNOTE: The growth of true understanding, born out of the transcendence
of duality even while immersed in the world of duality.
"The mind operates inevitably in this world of conflicts, oppositions and
duality. Yet when the opposites realize that they are complementary aspects
of the one Reality which sustains and encompasses all dualistic modes of
existence, they are able then to look away from internal conflicts and
beyond the shadows these conflicts generate. They may come to realize the
One Consciousness-Force, not in Itself (for this is, if not an impossible,
at least an inexpressible experience), but as the Creative Unity, the New
God, Ishvara, source of a new cycle of manifestation.
"In a deep philosophical sense we witness here the mind attempting to jump
beyond the very shadow it inevitably casts upon all experiences; i.e. the
SELF-TRANSCENDING ACTIVITY OF THE MIND."
[Repeat]
CHIRON is a recently discovered planetoid or small planet that seems to be
connected to healing and teaching. Chiron was the legendary/mythical
teacher of Centaurs and some men. A Centaur himself, he was only partly
human. A human/alien Wise Old Man figure.
Here Chiron is on the Descendant, the point of marriage and partnership, at
18 Scorpio.
[Repeat]
"SCORPIO 18 (CHIRON): A PARROT REPEATS THE CONVERSATION HE HAS OVERHEARD.
"KEYNOTE: The capacity to transmit transcendental knowledge.
"Keyword: CHANNELSHIP."
Blessings on you all in your imagineering!

Dear Peswani,
If you are this unique..why not "pray to Myself" ??? You do not seem to
believe anyone else can help you, anyway. It must feel terrible to be so
alone with all that ego energy. Seriously.. you need friends, no matter
how you may regard their inability to understand you...I would sincerely
suggest that you find some *other basis* ( other than being
understood)...to experience that you are not so alone. Your soul may
need to be going thru whatever this IS you are experiencing, but your
dreams say you need to put on your shoes and walk among us, anyway. You
are missing CONNECTION..(with all the train dreams..remember??)
Maybe we can find some subject other than *enlightenment* that we can
share to talk about?? Sometime, please do tell us about your family and
your other interests. I, for one, would like to know you more.
With sincere love and concern,
Glo Lee

Dear Peswani,
Thank you for your response. As far as I am concerned, it has firmed-up
your previous confession, if I may use the word 'confession;' it makes
more sense to me.
And I feel I understand you better.
Also, nothing against the Buddhist groups, but it's really a gift to be
able to fly the flag of your deepest knowledge and have someone tear it
to shreds. What remains is your deepest knowledge, which is untouchable
simply because it is not the flag flown.

I suppose if you see it coming, and want it to, it's bound to come.
Enlightenment, that is.
As far as personal genius, you seem to accept the concept while
suggesting its dynamic nature.
In the portrait of kundalini I believe there is room for something
called personal genius.

You very nicely reveal why those who know most about Kundalini have no
interest in researching it. They have transcended the world. Like
Peswani, they need to become normal or unenlightened (?) to help those
of us who think help is something we need.

Peswani,
When you first wrote about being enlightened. I did not
wonder either way whether you were enlightened or not. My
suspicion was that you had an epiphany not enlightenment,
because true enlightenment does not receed after 45 days.
However, this posting leaves me no doubt. An
enlightened person does not care about loneliness. An
enlightened person has no trouble finding the same, because
even among unenlightened people the enlightened person can
commune with the potential for enlightenment within all
beings. An enlightened person has no ego. An enlightened
person does not worry that people don't understand them. An
enlightened person can make people understand.
You are alone and lonely because you have chosen this.
You suffer because of your ego. You suffer because of your
delusions. Your greatest delusion is that your someone
special, a person around whom the universe revolves. The
universe will keep chugging along with or without you Mr.
Peshwani. There was a time before your birth, a time before
your 'enlightenment,' all still moved along.
Your quest to encompass all with your ego has created
your barrier to enlightened masters. You've probably
encountered a hundred masters that could have helped you on
your way. Each of them were sad that they could not help
you because you had created a barrier where you thought you
needed no help. If you believe you can learn from others
you will learn.
I'll end with two stories:
A young Saddhu in Southern India had been studying with
his guru for a couple years. Finally there was a
breakthrough and he understood what his guru meant when he
said he was one with everything. He realized I am god and
god is everything. He was away from his master and went
rushing back to see him. In a fervor he rushed along a
narrow trail to his master's hut. All the while exulting, I
am god and god is everything. He heard an elephant coming
down the trail towards him. The elephant was being used to
carry wood. He stopped in the middle of the path and
thought, 'wow, I'm god, the world is god, the elephant is
god too he won't run over me.' He stood there waiting for
the elephant. The elephant driver saw the young man in the
middle of the trail and shouted from the elephant's back,
'Get out of the way.' The young man stood his ground. He
knew 'I am god, The world is god, the elephant is god.' The
driver shouted louder the young student refused to leave the
trail. He knew 'I am god and the elephant is god.' Finally
the elephant plowed into the young man knocking him off the
trail.
He dragged himself battered and bruised to his master's
house. He told his master about what happened and asked him
"I understood your teachings, I was one with everything. I
saw that the elephant was god. So why did the elephant run
me off the trail?" His master laughed and asked the student
"If you were one with everything, and you were god and the
elephant was god, why didn't you listen to the voice of god
coming from on top of the elephant shouting at you to get
out of the way?"
....
Two young zen students were sitting around a campfire
discussing the universe. The master was listening to there
conversation. One zen master argued very succinctly that
the universe was mind. He created the universe and held in
his head, there was no distinction.
The master heard this argument and turned to the student
and asked. "Tell me, is that boulder over there inside of
your head or outside your head?"
"Well, inside my head."
"Then you head must be very heavy."
