Dear Morgana and k-er
I enjoyed reading the process you wrote concerning visualizing the lotus.
My awareness of what I have is different again, and Im thinking that
perhaps we can even experiment with the color of the lights, anybody
have any other ideas and experience re; this? My lotus is transparent
open, many petaled with tiny blue, very blue fairy lights on them and
sounds like a very complex music box plays any tune, it is basically
fairy-like and enchanting,beautiful, haunting, and a bit strange and
haunting which is all the things I love and are attracted to, perhaps
it is a reflection of what I want to be. Which makes it an interesting
topic, because if you consider others needs, the lotus jewels and colors
and music, perfume, could be anything, Id love to hear of some
creative thinking and dreaming of each lotus in our group because
it will help us recognize each others, as well as realize that we can
change the lotus at will, just for fun lets do this?

Interestingly enough, all of us do have out of body experiences when asleep -
the problem is remembering and directing them. Reliance on "spirits" to help you
remember is not as powerful as remembering on your own, and being in control of
your own destiny. It can be very dangerous.
Since you're from Brazil, you are probably aware of the work of Dr. Viera at the
IIPC. All of the work you reference and Dr. Viera's work have some basis in
"Spiritism" founded by the French documenter of mediums, Alan Kardec.
It takes a very experienced and somewhat "ascended" person to work persistently
in the spirit realm. It is not for beginner, but the brazilian spirit practices
are becomeing very attractive to people in the West who are promised "instant
psychic" and other powers. It doesn't happen that way. Much of the IIPC work for
instance, denigrate Kundalini and Tantric work (calling it a perversion of
sexual energy) - but instead, "satisfy" spirits helpers by taking care of their
bodies in the way the spirits want them to (and there is emphasis on sexual
energy) - in exchange for earthly "help". Although they tell practicioners to
beware "vampirism" - in fact, they are participating in a kind of
spirtual/energy vampirism. At the same time, they use kundalini exercises to
manupulate energy, which can be exceedingly dangerous. There is no guidance in
terms of helpful meditation, exercise, nutritional practice to help the
corporeal body deal with the energies.
Most of the spirit practices in Brazil borrow from the various portuguese and
african cults (e.g. voodoo). They have developed a rather seductive
technological volabulary - which is so mcuh smoke and mirrors.
IMO, these spirit practices can be very dangerous, more so in that they shun the
wisdom gleaned from thousands of years of research done in various diciplines.
For instance, Dr. Viera bases his knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism soley on the
works of Lobsang Rampa. It's "spiritual fast-food" where you can get a cosmic
sized stomach ache at best, and mentally completely lose your ability to stand
on your own two feet, at worst.

on "Swara Yoga".
The principle (and we can check this ourselves) is that normally teh body
uses one nostril for about an hour, then the other. They normally take
turns this way (Ida/Pingala). Swara Yoga is about noticing this (and
similar subtle changes in body energy flows) and coordinating normal
activities with them. He does tie in Kundalini but briefly.
One of the recommendations is, whichever nostril the breath is using, for
that hour, start walking with the corresponding foot, etc.
Methods are also given for changing the breath over to the other side as
wished, etc. (If you want it to change to left side, lie down on your right
side for a few minutes, and vv.)

Likely that was certainly right for you then. May be a general thing, since
the left side flow state is what inclines us to do peaceful, cool things
like meditation or slow easy yoga.

Whose? For a class, apparently the right side first is likely to help on an
average. (People who have just arrived at class may be hurried/flustered,
which will have put them in a right-side/Pingala/rajasic state, so that
would be easier for them, and will leave them in the calmer state after
each exercise.)
But if it's your own individual practice, or a very small sensitive class,
it would probably be better to go with where the person is at at any
particular moment.

Could be, for anyone whose k. is awake. Or just anyone who is sensitive
enough to feel a difference, should probably go wtih what they feel,
instead of with a book for the general public.

Again, they may just change back and forth within the day for various
reasons. Some of us sense more in our bodies than some of those teachers knew!

Seems to me the safe 'general rule' is to keep observing ones own
sensations/experience and letting it guide. (When the experts disagree, it
may mean that the situation is different for different people, or that they
have different purposes. One sort of easy thing ot check is, is the
particular book/method intended for people whose k. is already working
[unusual] or for the general public [more usually]).
BTW, another good source on subtle patterns we can feel is Upledger's
/Cranial-Sacral Therapy/. This is something else that needs to alternate,
not be standardised.
Both these books were publihsed within the last few years and should still
be available, tho from small publishers.
