To all interested in spiritual transformation,

I was initialized into the kundalini experience by a Kundalini Yoga
master back in 1976. Since that time I have gone through many
transitions. The awakening opens you to interact with many dynamic
forces of nature that change your body and level of receptivity.
Eventually, if you continue to practice yoga disciplines, you become a
channel of the fire that causes the activation. Over the years I have
taught yoga classes and have recently created a meditation tape which
facilitates the balance that a person should reach prior to activation
of kundalini. Many peole have been using the tape and continue to
experience new realms as they use it over time. The tape is a 30 minute
exercise in guided imagery specifically designated to channel energy
through the entire chakra system. No prior experience with meditation
is required.

The cost of the tape, "Meditation For Relaxation and Balance", is $8.00
plus shipping. You can get the tape by contacting me through :

1) e-mail correspondance to: aakhetATnospamaakhet.com

2) Amen-Ra's Bookshop & Gallery
1326 South Adams Street, Tallahassee, Florida 32301
   (904)681-6228 FAX = (904)681-6457

3) If you need to speak with me first:

I hope that this will be of use to some of you.

hmmm, interesting questions ed, and since i have nothing to hide this is
going on the list, although this can be a bit of a sticky subject for us
chaps. well, you've exposed the weakness in the wonderful ideal of
brahmacharya for western males used to having sex in the usual way and
trying somehow to sublimate that energy.

you've found an interesting angle here as this is what i'd been thinking
about for a while for, until about a year ago i was still subject to wet
dreams occasionally when i got the yoga too intense or too lax or ate
too late at night and went to sleep on a heavy meal or had an erotic
dream as wasn't integrating sexual and subtle energy in right way. i was
beginning to think that with all this energy so finely balanced it was
impractical to live a normal life and maintain the discipline necessary
to sustain brahmacharya.

then i went on a lowkey retreat and celibacy came up in the conversation
with a fellow buddhist and he said, "ok so you're celibate, but are you
chaste ?" this meant no masturbation, and i had not - until then -
really realised that this too would have to go as occasionally the build
up of energy, rather than the desire itself, became so unbearable i
either had to let off steam with a hand job as a last resort or - at a
loss to know what else to do, given that meditation could make things
even worse and hatha yoga could often intensify the energy - write the
sexual desire out of my system...maybe one day i'll publish an erotic
novel based on these therapeutic "outpourings" so to speak....in the
meantime i may well quietly forget them......for they did the job
combined with a lot of savasana, very gentle yoga, devourting the
scriptures of various traditions with newfound intellectual energy and
martial arts style exercises, a light pure diet and some very deep
meditation on the nature of the dualistic experience...in other words i
was a full time yogi and buddhist which is a privileged position to be
in, i know.

over the years i had also wrecked a very deep relationship through
sexual infidelity and had nearly wrecked a couple of good friendships by
taking them into the sexual realms when this was not the right thing at
all for either of us and subsequently left a very sour and awkward
taste.

in other words i had had enough of sex altogether and was truly
desperate to be free of it forever...and the only way was up...so i read
and read, tried all kinds of yogic techniques and in the end the
combined effect was to feed the subtle body, purify the consciousness
more and more, clear a lot of karma that seemed inescapable otherwise,
even through deep meditation...and thus i thought - wow - if only i had
known about all this earlier when shakti awoke and was celibate for a
year or two until old desire gradually reasserted itself, this could
have been achieved much more easily, and i could have saved myself and
others a lot of pain and scattered energy.

with kundalini and a spiritual relationship sex can be good, but i'm
telling you, brahmacharya is even better and lacks any of the possible
pitfalls of sexual relationships. the only real problem is finding an
outlet for all the sublimated energy - thus my need to write such long
messages like this one....one's power of speech, thought and language is
gradually refined and empowered in subtle way if head chakras are open
especially. and as for dreams...well, they are unbelievably vivid and
provide quite startlingly clear symbolic forms guiding me in life
towards new integrity and wholesome state of being could never have
imagined before. and this is only year one of chastity. still occasional
twinge of eroticism in dreams sometimes if fail to express sublimated
energy correctly, but learning to listen to these hints and simply have
to go deeper in awareness and creativity. also yama and niyama of
classical yoga began to make excellent sense...began to feel like a real
yogi for once ! now just have to learn to act like one !

please kundalites, feel free to ask more questions, especially if
interested in brahmacharya as practical option as i know how hard it is,
in a manner of speaking - geez - a Freudian analyst would probably have
a field day with some of the slips in this message maybe i should just
find a date and forget the whole thing - actually very therapeutic
having to be so open about these things, all part of the holistic
approach to life that brahmacharya must be part of to enjoy success -
cannot be done in isolation from whole of spiritual path, as with
kundalini becomes potent fuel for nervous system, brain and subtle body
as well as profound means of gradual purification of karma - not to be
underestimated as a valuable goal even if the technical side can be
tricky in practice.......regards Yogi Tom (apologies for such a male
orientated view but this is all i know)>

Has anyone found mantra to be a big help? If so, in what ways?
I was looking at some tape out there for learning to do mantra by Johari
something(same person who wrote "Tools for Tantra", does anyone know if
this a helpful one? Any other good mantra resources out there?

thanks,

well, i'm afraid at least one or two Tantric yogis have been known to
think very seriously about suicide at certain times, if only for a short
while, often as a tactical move when all seems lost in this
reincarnation - simply designed to try to get consciousness closer to
guru either in bardo or next reincarnation however crazy this may sound.
also maybe when void is just too much to handle and conditioned mind may
try to wreck the whole show rather than concede defeat and quietly
dissolve into light....having said this, never actually come across a
successful buddhist suicide in scriptures or in hearsay - seems that
reason and faith in dharma prevails in end no matter how close one may
get in practice. perhaps because there is no real belief system
appealing to a divine being to which one can migrate. also, on a
technical point, buddhists may start out not wanting to be reborn, but
may wll choose to come back even if they do not have to, out of
compassion for suffering beings....in this context suicide is not very
useful and also wastes a valuable tool - this body and mind and all the
abilities acquired by them - which can help others...therefore...one of
surest ways of avoiding suicidal urge is to start getting compassionate
in whatever way is appropriate.

Has anyone heard from Antaras Ra? I have also heard that someone in

else heard this? What a sad thing to have happen.

BTW, did anyone see Thursday nite's 'Seinfield'? George gave up sex (his
girlfriend had mono) and became a philosopher, intellect, scientist! It was
hilarious.

Tom, your story reminded me of this. Just remember, when George gave in to
his desires at the end (just one time), he became 'poor ol' George' again.

Thanks for sharing - Food for thought.

Yes indeedy, I find dancing to be very energising. I used to go hit the
nightclubs once or twice a month (gay clubs, to avoid being hit on) just to
lose myself to the music and lights, let my body shake itself back into balance.
After a bit of warm up if the dance floor was not too crowded I would get
to a wonderful zen state where it seemed my body was interpreting the music
all by itself, while my mind danced about other topics, discovering fresh
perspectives.
When I get really flying in this state, it seemes miraculous that my body
is staying upright considering the incredible amount of movement I am
experiencing relative to the infrequency and lightness of my feet touching
the floor. Gravity is a toy I am playing with.
I am quite aware that if I attempted to retake conscous control of my body
in this state I would likely fall down or crash into someone. It is really
wonderful, I have not cut loose dancing like that for some time, not since
Yule, to a local Celtic band...then in a 22" leather corset which made it an
endorphin enriched and rather breathless experience. Quite some wonderful
energy that night.
There is a rich history of ritual dancing to reach altered states, and
ritual dancing with encumberments, dances to invoke possession by dieties,
dancing to exhaustion to provoke visions.
Even dancing into madness and suicide like that old movie,"they shoot
horses don't they?" where an exhaused dance marathon participant murders his
partner at her request when they realize they are too exhausted to win and
have incurred a huge debt in entering.... the Chapel Perilous lurks at every
entry to the Twilight Zone.

A favorite meditation that I have been doing since before I realized it
was a meditation is to sing along as perfectly as possible to a favorite
piece of music.
A song that I love and know well that is within my range yet difficult,
usually Kate Bush, sometimes David Bowie or Peter Gabriel, or anything I
know well enough to have unconscous recollection of complete, and enough of
an emotional connection with to stay interested for 3 minutes. Or 5 minutes,
if it's Gordon Lightfoot or some other longwinded balladeer.

".....The song the future has been sung,
all the battles have been won,
 on the mountaintops we stand,
all the world at our command,
we have opened up the soil,
with our teardrops and our toil.
... There was a time in this fair land
when the railroad did not run,
 when the wild majestic moutains
 stood alone against the sun,
 Long before the white men
 and long before the wheel.
When the green dark forest stood,
too silent to be real." G.L. Railroad Trilogy....Canadian stuff, eh?
(This is but a short snip of the song lyric)
Took 2 reps to get it smooth enough to get clear and zen like. Still some
mistakes, his voice is very low and he plays with rhythms and melodies a
lot. One part of the lyric of that song picks up speed exactly like a steam
engine getting underway.

This sounds really simple, but it isn't. To match the artist's performance
note for note breath for breath I must be completely in the moment and
surrendered to the music. My unconscous has full recollection of every
note of the song, but to surrender to that memory takes focused relaxation.
If I spare a thought for the next lyric or the last error I will lose
contact with the moment, timing and err again. And to match a voice like
Kate Bush requires considerable concentration in the first place. Male
voices are ever harder in thier own way, as I have to smoothly adapt octaves
sometimes.
Yet as I do this and my body and mind become still, there is the witness
in the back of my mind showing me fresh perspectives on whatever decision I
have been dwelling on.

Also musical divination. I could not count how many times one lyric from
background music will suddenly leap louder into my attention in response to
mental question. Sometimes with huge humor. Cool stuff.
 Blessings, Angel'indigo.
