Dear List,

To those of you who knew her, l've just been informed of the death of El Collie.

El was publisher of SHARED TRANSFORMATIONS, a newsletter that served the kundalini community, along with a website containing k links and her invaluable insights.

As l have only just learned of her passing, l'm in a state of shock and feel deep sadness. l considered El a dear friend, someone for whom l felt deep respect and affection for all that she did and represented to those of us who have struggled with spiritual energy. l had been out of contact with her during the past year -- l knew she'd been suffering physically and had largely withdrawn, and l didn't want to intrude. l don't know the exact cause of her death, but knowing how much pain she'd been in in recent years, l suspect the energy contributed heavily to it.

l know many of you will want to join me in paying tribute to our beloved friend. l pray that after all her suffering and for all that she was to us, she's in a beautiful place.

Dear List,

I just heard via Jerry at the HarshaSatsangh list that El Collie just died. She was the editor of Shared Transformation Newletter and one of the originators of this list.

Most of you may know her from the *signs and symptoms* which have helped so many of us.

In mourning

Love, Hillary

That's sad to hear. I found this through ST and exchanged uplifting e mails with her. She had a sharp-edge sense of humor and reminded me of an old Berkley beat nick, slightly at odds with the hippie, new age and internet K movements that came later.

After El left this list, she and a fellow in England started one up that was purely for enlightened wise-cracking. (and people who might have read too many books, found out too much about themselves.... and just can't take it all too seriously).

Good-bye, El, I'll always love you.

Paul

I read of El Collie's passing away and join her friends in prayers. El contributed to the spiritual communities with vitality, humor, compassion, understanding, and love and touched all of us. I don't recall ever telling El how much she was appreciated and the immense value of her work on Kundalini. I am so glad that so many others like Jerry and Angelique did tell her that. They have my gratitude.

Thank you Mystress Angelique for your kind words about El Collie. It was a shock for me to hear about her sudden death.

In your email you mentioned the link to Shared Transformations and the articles she recently wrote on shamanic death and dismemberment.

The same day she passed away, she had put on the internet four series of wonderful visionary collages, she made last year. It's real beauty!

Just wanting to share,

with love,
Herma

When I thought that I was going crazy when K. first erupted, El Collie wrote me several personal messages via snail mail that I read over and over. She was my link to sanity. She took time for me despite her difficulites. Such gratitude wells up in me for her attention during those times. I shed tears as I write this, even though I know that death is ok. We did not have a ''relationship,' just those few letters, but, oh, I shall miss her, oh, I shall miss her...didn't know how much until Angelique's announcement.

Thank you so much, El Collie, thank you.

Blessings,
Marsha-

El was very special to me, as she spoke for many of us whose unexplainable chronic illness has remained, or has even gotten worse, after our Kundalini Awakening...

it is easy for us to fall into feeling that our illlness means that there is something spiritually wrong with us... and there are so many voices from those blessed with good health who sometimes use this as a way of making their point, that our illness is a sign that their way is better than ours... kind of remniscent of Calvinism... El was an aggressive warrior against this type of attitude... and i love her so much for this, and am so grateful to her...

El has helped me to feel my perfection despite my chronic illness... so please humor me as i express some of the compassionate anger that was one side of El that few would ever mention in remembrance of her...

this one's for you, El:

FUCK YOU!
*smiling kindly, as a tear falls*

(for those who don't get this inside joke, i am including an old controversial post of mine, along with the post by El that inspired it... link...)

kind and gentle
a perfect guide
and

for a day, maybe two
an old friend

Mystress responded:

Yes, me too. While I was looking in the archives for posts to forward, I kept getting the impulse to write to her... then remembering .. too late for that.

Thank you for sharing the link to the collages. They are lovely. What a beautiful parting gift!

I sent my condolences to Charles, and received his consent to put up a tribute section for El, on the Gateway using her prolific posts from the archives. I am still sorting out how it will look, and am open to suggestions.

I know I would like to include a page of members comments and reminiscences of El. She touched so many of us in so many ways. If members could please compose their thoughts about her, and send them to me, the list or the moderators address that would be beautiful.

Blessings...
