Subject: [K-list] pain, pleasure and the process

The human body is set up to recognize differences such as hot/cold;
light/dark; noisy/quiet; pleasent smelling/offensive smelling; and the
biggie,, Pain and Pleasure. Both are best known for the extremes within
the individual and two sides of the same coin. Pleasure and pain can lose
distinction and blend together as can all opposites. As living beings we
can learn directly using our bodies to experiment with how to meld body,
spirit and mind. Self examination does not require direction from a master
but does require concentrated diligence and honesty with self. Nothing can
be sacred from silent observation of behaviour. Silence of the verbal
process of mind is critical in self examination because the intellect is a
product of the very emotional and environmental factors. What you are
trying to reveal to the inner self must come without intellect's input of
judgement and beliefs. Allowing emotions and freeing them from reacting to
life in a repetitive manner is a crucial element of living in a state of
BEING. Emotions are crucial because one of the primary functions of
intellect is to rationalization emotional behaviour, and sets the foundation
on which we build our personality and identification of the behaviours which
give us distinction from the behaviours of those around us. When we
identify the emotional basis for a behaviour, intellect's patterns of
rationalizations and selective memory of events, where the only actions and
materials noticed were the ones that agreed with the individual's beliefs,
we come closer to understanding why finding personal clarity can be so
challenging. Consciousness of what we speak, how we speak, and what we mean
by our speech under the background of our emotional responses can become an
act of witnessing. Choosing to see only the reality that agrees with our
present beliefs every time a life event occurs, reinforces our prior
perception and any broader lesson cannot be embraced or allowed. Intellect
creates a prison where the individual can feel safe and familiar. Growth
toward enlightenment is a time consuming process. To learn to release old
habits and behaviors that make small our awareness of the greater flow comes
after a personal awareness of them. One agrees to give up the familiar and
trust in what we don't yet know. From here the path is less painful.

One does not have to experience if one can witness the processing of others.
Watching the life lessons of otheres and learning from them can provide a
quick path toward a less painful path. However, whatever your blocks and
limiting beliefs are, trust indeed that they will be revealed to you at the
most appropriate time for your learning. And if you don't get the lesson
the first time, you will manifest it another way, until you do.

Loving the process, the lessons and the growth that comes from them will
override any fear of pain once you get on with living the lessons and stop
thinking about them. We are gifted with bodies which feel on every level,
thus each sensation is a gift. We do well to stop blocking the range of
what we can experience by grasping onto old concepts of safety and
familiarity.

In peace. Hope this helps.
