Dear Rick,

I agree with compass's post, although it's rather natural to be annoyed by
sanctimoniousness.

I would guess that most "immoral" acts are based ultimately in fear. When we
lose basic fears we tend to become "moral" in the larger sense of the
word--acting with honesty, integrity, compassion, etc.. We have no need to lie or
behave in ways that hurt others. We tend automatically to act with generosity.
Our morality may differ somewhat with social mores, but there are certainly
"moral" laws that seem to be universal. Churches simply codify these laws,
sometimes for better, often for worse. But to find fault in your friend for
making judgments on morality based on church teachings is in itself making a
"moral" judgment. :)) It is, however, probably his attitude of superiority that
annoys you. The question is why?

Love, Hillary

"Compassion automatically invites you to relate with people, because you no
longer regard people as a drain on your energy. They recharge your energy,
because in the process of relating with them you acknowledge your wealth, your
richness."

Question: Why are there good and evil?

Reply: They are relative terms. There must be a subject to know the good
and evil. That subject is the ego. Trace the source of the ego. It ends in the
Self. The source of the ego is God. This definition of God is probably more
concrete and better understood by you.

Question: So it is. How to get Bliss?

Reply: Bliss is not something to be got. On the other hand you are always
Bliss."

A strongly influenced Christian friend of mine has told me that I have high
morals.

Why does this *really* irritate me as a seeker ?
