Subject: [K-list] Re: another theory
From: Stephen Kowalchuk

Chelle,

Nietsche once said that we created God (or any object of faith) in our own
image to fend away the notion that we were alone and fragile in this big
bad world (paraphrasing, of course). Perhaps computing is our way of
modeling the processes and fixtures of thought into a machine medium.

Consider --

Any computer has 3 basic functions:
   - input (accept commands, keystrokes, sensor data)
   - process (perform calculations, filter data, trend data)
   - output (usually to screen or printer, or possibly to other devices for
action)

Any human brain has 3 basic functions:
   - input (senses mostly)
   - process (filter data, perform calculations, factor in emotions,
predict outcomes)
   - output (usually in the form of actions)

Food for thought, no?

Steve
