Are they the guided meditations? They're really good. Another good way, if
you don't have the cd/tapes and there is a group of you is for someone to
read one (you can make up your own if you want) to the rest of the group.
Another way is inspirational writing. Start off with any subject - and just
make it stream of consciousness stuff. It's amazing what can come out. You
bypass your conscious mind. I did one in a group once. We were each given
a piece of paper and a pen, and told to right "I am a rabbit" and carry on.
Rabbits are grey aren't they? Well I was writing as a grey rabbit, then I
happened to look in a pool of water.....and my reflection was gold. I
wrote, "I'm not grey! I'm gold!"
Then I saw a white rabbit and followed it, but it disappeared over a hill
and I lost sight of it.
We all had to read back what we had written, and when I came to the I am a
gold rabbit bit they laughed. (But the leader nodded wisely)

Another way to get into a different state of consciousness is to do
spiritual healing on someone (not reiki, well not in my case, heh)
You can take turns as healer and healee. You both go into an altered state,
and when you've finished doing the healing (it doesn't matter if you're a
lousy healer, you might do some good, and your consciousness will alter)
you're already there so to speak to meditate. You can go really deep that
way sometimes. Also it trains you to go into an altered state without
starting with healing.

True :))
