Dear Kumar and Gustaf Would you agree to generalize the topic (sushumna, Ida & Pingali) to also:         - micro cosmic orbit         - secondary chakras         - once the seven main chakras (plus the 5 main chakras being outside our biological body) are fully open, is K. trying to flow, open and release blockages that can be in the secundary chakras. What a lovely query !!! A truly spiritual enquiry.

 > Since it's so quiet on the list today, I'll throw in a new topic. =)

A good reason for bringing about a new topic

 > From what I understand, K travels up the middle passage (Sushumna)                                                                                   > How does K in the middle passage affect the two others, Ida & Pingala? It is stated that these 2 nerves have to merge into the Sushumna passage                                                                       > for years, I have been experiencing different states of mind > related to these energy pathways.. > Or do Ida & Pingala function like before? You may find 'Merging with Siva' by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniya Swami a very good source

 > I mean, the mind and the vital energies for the physical body etc > still needs their functioning..

Not really. At any rate, the vital energy is required for the body. And, that is kept up even during our unconscious sleep But, the mind can merge into the Self. By the way, K is only an admixture of the mind and the vital

 > I have not found any info about this in any K literature I've read..                                                                                         Merging with Siva as stated above

 > Anyone have any ideas about this? Would be fun to know, or to discuss it further!

Yes. It must be fun to discuss these things.

I would write 4 lines now about the relationship of Ida and Pingala to sleep and spiritual practice.

The Brahmins, the companions of the river banks, are the fire among fires. (for, they are to be truly spiritual, workig with the K). When the twin nerves (Ida and Pingala), constituting the inner meaning of having kept the Sound as the companion (of Brahmins, who are to chant the Vedas constantly), function merged (in the Sushumna passage) in the midnight that is the one pure path of the twin (nerves functioning) like the Light

(Tirumantiram 216 by Sage Tirumular in His Immortal Tamil Scriptural Masterpiece "Tirumantiram")

We can discuss this. I have just given the literal translation. The necessary support words for fuller comprehension, I have inserted within brackets)

Thanks and kind regards

RK Shankar
