In "Maha Yoga or The Upanishadic Lore In The Light Of The Teachings Of
Bhagavan Sri Ramana", written by "Who"(Sri K.Lakshmana Sarma), the Sage
is quoted as follows:

"There are two Nirvikalpa Samadhis. One is called Sahaja Nirvikalpa
Samadhi, or simply Sahaja. The other is called Kevala Nirvikalpa
Samadhi...In the former the mind is dissolved and lost in the Self; and
being so lost, it cannot revive, and hence there is an end of bondage.
In the latter case, the mind is not dissolved and lost in the Self; it
is immersed in the Light of the Consciousness, which is the Self; while
it is so immersed, the Yogi who is in that Samadhi enjoys great
happiness; but since the mind remains distinct from the Self, it can and
does become active again, and the Yogi becomes subject to ignorance and
bondage."

"The mind of the Sage that has attained the Natural State is like a
river that has joined the ocean and becomes one with it; it does not
return. The mind of the Yogi that is in the Yogic Samadhi is like a
bucket let down a rope into a well, where it remains submerged in the
water; by the rope it can be pulled up again; so the mind of the Yogi
can go back to the world; he is not free;thus he is very much like
common men."

The Sage characterised the Natural State as being beyond description-
beyond intellect, and therefore beyond speech- and that direct
experience is the only means of knowing it.

As to my own experience- after a few years of meditation, I found
myself able to "see" the entire universe at once, in a strangely
omnidirectional manner, a place of shimmering and ever brightening
lights. I "knew" myself to be this entire phenomena. It was a time of
great joy and bliss for me. I gorged myself on fantastic energy rushes.
Unfortunately, I erred in some way, or simply was not ready for the
experience. My crash involved severe torment and unspeakable cruelties
perpetrated by (vicious demonses, my own marginalized ego, who knows?),
culminating in a year-long, schizophrenic flight of terror spanning many
thousands of miles. (don't do this at home, kids)
I survived. In retrospect, it was a great learning experience, but I
wouldn't wish it upon anyone. Nor would I disuade them from following a
similar path. I've returned to meditation, with profoundly positive
results. Sometimes I sort of feel like that cartoon of the "Forty year
old hippie", who mumbles "Two thousand acid trips, and they've all been
bummers- but I Ain't Givin' Up"
And I'll never give up. I want so badly to go home. Yes, all desires
are born of ego, even this desire to have no desires...a freaking
paradox...innit? May all your desires slowly melt away... M
