Subject: [K-list] Bill Hicks: a dead hero
From: Hecatenyxx

On 2003/09/03 00:39, Hecatenyxx posted thus to the K-list:

Only recently did I stumble onto some of Bill Hick's works, and I'd like to share with those on the k list what potential and beauty the late comedian had with his works. Unfortunately he passed away at age 32 in 1994, and touched on subjects extremely controversial such as sex, politics, drugs, religion, so didn't get that much attention- at least as much as he deserved. In America at least, figures. His material was taken off the Letterman show in what was to be his last apperance because it was deemed inappropriate. Ridiculous. In America people. He was well loved in the UK I think- at least more than in America as far as being presented goes..

A recent posting about life=death reminded me of this quote specifically, if not the then one of my favourite quotes ever:

"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is mearly energy condensed through a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, life is only a dream and we are the imaginations of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather. "

"The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question, is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, 'Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride'... And we... kill those people. "

Personally I feel these two quotes are inspiring enough to cry over.
