Dear Emanuela,

My K awakening came within 6 weeks of getting back into Hatha Yoga exercises,
left off 20 years previously. There were other factors as well, but it was
definitely a major trigger. My heart area opened first. Overwhelming waves and
waves of sexual/mystical energy went through me, exploding in the brain. It
wasn't a classic spine involved awakening.

The controversy of what constitutes Kundalini rising and what constitutes
Pranayama rising has long been controversial. I suspect that most people who
doubt the experience of others have experienced neither. ;)
I say this partly in jest, and partly in all seriousness. Many of those who
are k awake see that everyone is already always awake.

See Kurt Keutzer's Kundalini Faq on Kundalini vs Pranayama.

I ascribe to the 3rd opionion--that of Swami Shivom Tirth--that Prana and
Kundalini are absolutely equivalent and "the difference is not in the nature of
the activity, but in the consciousness that observes it."

Sooner or later you may (or may not) feel the energy in the head area.

I think as a general rule those who have been awakened through yoga asanas
have a gentler, less dramatic, awakening. Mine seemed pretty dramatic at the
time, however! :))

Love, Hillary
