whether u asked a question out of curiosity or to further a discussion from blandness, or to examine the depth of ur subscribers,u have compelled me by the seduction of an unanswered question to bring forth my view.
the basic fault in the argument is the assumption that all truth is good.
i think, that it is not the nature of the truth that is good or bad but the intention. truth is truth. an incident. it is the emotions we attach to anything that makes it good or evil. good or bad is relative and lies on our individual decision .

there was a man, who was recovering from a heart ailment. was not supposed to experience extremes of emotions. someone showed him, a recorded tape of his wife, who he loved so dearly and who he thought loved him equally, seducing and making love with the plumber. and that he had seen her freak out in all her naughtyness , like something she had never done with her husband. and the husband breathed his last.
so if this was the truth? is it evil or good? it just doesnt change the nature of the truth.
but it does change the nature of our emotions , with respect to the intentions of the guy. for the sake of argument let me extend the hypothesis to, that the guy knew this would happen and that was his very intention.
this doesnt make his truth any more divine nor does it make santaclaus evil.
if the husband was a screwball sadist and pervert, we would feel a lot less worse about this story. since our attachment to him reduces but if we have come to know of him that he was noble etc.. we feel bad. and based on these we make our judgements.
but it doesnt change the truth in anyway!! bcos u feel like x and i feel like x^2.

A.

actually truth liberates for tha most rational guy.and the most rational guy is not attached to irrational emotions.( cause of distress) but not without attachment. but we are ordinary and still yet to achieve. and that is what man's final quest is isnt it? to achieve ultimate rationality, either throught sciences or through the arts, the micro and the macro perspectives of rationalism. life is but a huge oppurtunity to live the sciences and the arts applying reason . that is why the east indians in their ancientness said : satyam shivam sundaram : truth is divine and beautiful or the divine is the truth and its beautiful ( finally means one and the same)
