Lovely to see you posting again, Kurt!

Ironically, as time goes by I find myself somewhat in agreement with
(expunged) Tony's view that what can be seen and felt, is Prana. I see
Kundalini as the energy of Consciousness, the Tibetan "clear light",
invisible. The Self, unknowable. What we feel, is kundalini making use of
various types of prana.

However, it is convenient to refer to the process and effects as
Kundalini.

In my grade school days I read a book called "Who has seen the wind?"
by Farley Mowat. In the book, a priest explains God to a child, by saying
God is like the wind. You cannot see it, but you can see and feel its
effects on the world.

Not an either-or question, for me. The crown is an out of body
experience, one cannot live there, permanently. The heart is a lovely
place, but without the boundary-discernment of the power chakra it is not
workable to live there full time either. The heart has no boundaries and
tends not to respect individuality.

For example, Christianity is a heart centered religion, and the golden
rule assumes everyone is the same... which is repressive.

Muktananda said the highest enlightenment is to come back down and
live in the second chakra. This made little sense to me, aside from some
cynicism about his reputation as a rapist, until I got the insight about
the pearl of the second chakra. The second chakra is the only chakra that
can store energy, like a battery. The others require energy to always be
flowing. The pearl that is grown at the second chakra seems to function
like a bubble of crown chakra vibration that makes a home for the soul-seed
of consciousness, allowing one to be fully in the world of relationships
and emotions, while still retaining the sense of nonduality that is of the
crown. I call it "playing full out." Knowing the world is illusion, and
diving into it, fearless and joyous.
Additionally, the pearl functions like a backup battery, even when
energy is low/blocked and other chakras may be shutting down, having that
pearl bubble allows one to retain a sense of balance.

Personally, I shuttle between all the chakras faster than the speed of
thought, tending to look at things from all perspectives... but my decision
making mostly comes from my power chakra, it is where the sense of karma
and dharma lives. The place of my conscience. I find with most folks, when
working with the soul-spark, doing soul retrievals, etc., it is most often
found at the power chakra.

Enlightenment and self realization, are not the same thing. I know a
few folks who are self realized, but have not fully cleared the ego
impulses from the energy body. They consider the ego part of the Self too.
They do not identify with it... or restrain it at all. As a result they can
be kind of unpleasant. heh.

If you want to meet someone who is self realized but has not cleared
ego stuff from the energy body, go talk to Judy at the
endoftheroperanch AT_NOSPAM yahoogroups.com She is self realized, and spends most of
her time bashing seekers and teachers for indulging in the drama of seeking
for what they already have. I do not entirely disagree with her, but I
think there is a place for tolerance. ;) If God wants to run around
pretending not to be, who am I to judge that?

Self realization is easy to attain, but difficult to sustain.
I have a few techniques to give just about anybody an experience of
self realization, but for them to become stable in that state and identify
with it alone, often takes years. Drama is a habit, especially for the TV
generations who are programmed to believe that life is supposed to have a
cliffhanger every hour or two. Funny how many folks spontaneously
experience the Witness state and think there is something seriously wrong
with them, confusing peace with depressive apathy.

If the realization experience is combined with ego death, it takes a
lot of practice and experience to learn to avoid attaching to something and
growing a new ego over and over, and inventing a lot of astral world hell
trips, journeys back into forgetfulness that are difficult to get out of on
your own. I don't do ego death rituals anymore... except on myself, now
and then...

Self inquiry is a good way to stay stable, or gain stability,
especially after the initial self realization experience. Moving into the
Self and watching the ego stuff go by from a place of knowing it is
illusion, as a daily meditation, is a good way to maintain energy body
hygiene. When the energy body is clear, the mind is clear too, transparent
and and stable. After a while, it becomes normal.

>So it's a quicker, safer and more direct method, and yet few people follow

Ego tends to fight for its survival.
