I went to a T'ai Chi class a few weeks ago, and was able to feel the energy
(Chi) distinctly between my finger tips at the end of the session. It

Unfortunately, outside a few neurological stuidies on meditators, and a few
books like Lee Sannella's "Kundalini, Transcendance or Psychosis?", the
field is filled with cranks, crackpots, and bad science. Those of us who
have had Kundalini experiences or who have felt Chi know there's something
to it, but how can we ever expect objective science to take this seriously
and engage in serious studies if the subject is flooded with nonsense and
false information?
Take the web site above. The author pays lip service to empirical science
in the introduction, and then proceeds to spew out all sorts of false
information, like, earthquake activity has been rising 400 percent sinvce
1973, severe solar activity was up 300 percent in 1997, blah blah blah...
It's all bunk -- information take out of context, misrepresentation of data,
and outright lies. For instance, it may appear that there are more
earthquakes during the last 30 years, but that's because there are more
detectors. According to the US Geological Survey,
"Although it may seem that we are having more earthquakes, earthquakes of
magnitude 7.0 or greater have remained fairly constant throughout this
century and, according to our records, have actually seemed to decrease in
recent years. A partial explanation may lie in the fact that in the last
twenty years, we have definitely had an increase in the number of
earthquakes we have been able to locate each year. This is because of the
tremendous increase in the number of seismograph stations in the world and
the many improvements in global communications."
As for sunspot activity, it follows an 11 year cycle. 1997 was actually a
low point in the activity, with close to zero sunspots predicted. So, it
wouldn't take much to get a 300 percent increase.

All this stuff about increasing energy seems to be connected to a New Age
fad about the coming of Planet X and the end of the Mayan calendar. Most of

know. Otherwise, I'm keeping my feet on the ground.
