A nice poem is simply that - a nice poem. To get into a discussion about
whether or not the Buddha said it is to miss the point. To study life I must
compare teachings to life. At issue here is whether one reaps as they sow.
Looking at this life I cannot find evidence that that statement is true. To
say that it is over many lifetimes that things will even out is meaningless
to me. I cannot know if that is true or not - so why worry about it? What I
can observe is that most people live from child archetype which wants life
to be fair. That religions promise that life is fair - if not now then
later - does not surprise me.
