Subject: [K-list] RE: Which works of Sri Aurobindo you read ?

RK Shankar,

Thank you for the attachment (which I have removed from this message),
which I have already read at
http://savitribysriaurobindo.com/motheronsavitri.html.
Prompted by your email, I had another detailed look at Savitri (on the
above site). I also sampled several sections ahead. In conclusion, I
really can't follow it. It just does not appeal to me, although it
clearly appeals to many others.

There are many paths in the world/universe. It is better to choose one
path that is consistent with ones own character and personality. It is
not good to try too many paths, nor to jump from one to another
regularly when there is not enough improvement or "enjoyment". Even so,
it is possible to know about other paths/ways/systems for the purposes
of an overview and general discussions.

However, it should be clarified that even though I choose a certain path
and other choose different paths, I still have respect for all paths
that genuinely have the ultimate goal of Yoga, ie union of Jiva Atman
and Param Atman. Furthermore, unless I know about a topic, I do not
discuss it in detail nor disrespect it.

If you are interested in a (brief) list of my favourite readings then
here it is: Ramayana, Mahabharata (which includes the famous Bhagavada
Gita), Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Gheranda Samhita, Patanjali Yoga Sutras,
Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Samihitas, and various Mantras/Shlokas.

I have read some text extracts of other religions and paths. They give
me a similar spiritual thrill and "expansion". Which justifies to
myself that it is necessary and sufficient to follow one path
thoroughly, but to respect other paths by at least knowing about them in
general.

Bhavin.
