I was using marajuana chronically for years, and I refused to stop until one day I did. If you manage to stop an addict it will only be for a short period of time, unless he was already on the path to quitting, in which case you can facilitate his healing. But otherwise, if the healing doesn't happen as a joint effort (equal partnership and purpose) then there will be no healing at all. In that case you'll only cause more strife if you persist without his consent. In truth, you never "quit" marajuana, you never stop using. You only might come to the conclusion it's not something you need anymore "to get high" therefore your useage decreases and eventually it appears to stop altogether. In actually you have just balanced your mind so that you are "high" without the need of weed whereas you're merely waiting for the next "apropriate" moment to spark it up again. In other words, once chronic, always chronic. I hope you are able to see the value in abuse. Believe it or not, there is grace in all paths.

p.s. I met someone in the mental home who needed some heroine to soothe his soul, I thought that was pretty wicked, but I realized that all paths are equal and beautiful, nobody needs to be saved, and person is their own best doctor, knowing exactly what to prescribe for their soul, addiction is the soul's way of screaming for Love
