I was always open religiously, even though brought up in a fairly traditional environment (upstate Idaho). I chalk my openness up to my dad, who introduced me continuously to grad students from all over the world, who had different colors, viewpoints, languages, and (most remarkably) food. Great way to grow up...

As I became more aware of divinity, I realized that this had nothing to do with traditional religion. I read up on many others who talked about the role of religion and spirituality in culture, then got tired of reading, and went my own way.

Now that I've become stupid again (lol), I realize that both religion and spirituality are part of humans for many reasons, and I have less and less need to muck around, making others aware of my perspective. It's much more fun listening to what others bring to the table. And makes my world a little larger with every new face...

Frankly, though - I've always had the standard scientific belief system: "I'm from Missouri." I'm a pig to life's mud, and it's only mud if I'm rolling around in it. I tried to be different, but this is what I'm really made of.
