Dear Felix,

I read David Bozzi's earlier post with interest as he
advised against catering to labels, and then made a
passionate plea for the use of the label "I" over "me". lol

Hety: Felix (and David), I may not be interpreting this correctly but David is referring to the I AM. The "I" is the "I That Is." The "I That cannot die." The "me" is the ego.

I have always been me, it's the only thing in this
inconstant world of temporality that has never changed. Body
after body after body.... ;-)

Maybe I learned about me through Sunday School when I was
growing up.

Hety: Oh, Felix! ;-) This reminds me of an exercise I keep asking the pastor to do with the teenagers, the ones preparing for first Communion. He won't let me do it and he won't do it -- I believe he's afraid of what the "children" might say because he himself doesn't understand. Here's the exercise: Ask someone to think back when they were little. Ask, "Who is observing through your eyes?" (They'll probably say "me.") OK. Now ask, "Who's observing today and does the observer seem any older than when you were six, eight?" OH! After some discussion the (O)bserver becomes timeless, ageless. Who then, is the Observer? ;-) The I AM of course.

This exercise will throw the "me" off balance for a while but the me won't have a chance. A realization may occur! Yay! The me (ego) will recover and try to reclaim lost territory through rationalization, and perhaps all but those awakened in some ways will eventually succumb to the monkey mind of the ego. However, it's a fun exercise for children/young adults because most will remember back to at least age four.

Like the Ten Commandment that states: Thou shalt
have no other God before me. And Jesus's supposed statement:
No man shall enter the Kingdom of God except through me.

Ah yes, but Felix! At this point in Jesus' teaching he had expressed that he was the I AM. This is probably what this statement meant. Through me, the I AM. No man will attain a God-state except through understanding the internal I AM. The inner Christ. May I suggest a tremendous book for you? "Christ the Yogi" by Ravi Ravindra. Oh yes, and for RK Shankar -- you'll love it! ;-)

When I become the Observer I'm much happier with myself than when I let the "me" take over. But, I'm only human and the "me" is my shadow! ;-) (Walkin' down the Avenoooo...)

Love,

Hety
