The reason monks shaved their heads dated back to Jewish custom. It had to do with humility. Remember when Paul shaved his head? It had to do with becoming an anonymous person.

Hair is a value thing. Ever have a bad hair day when you've got a big sales presentation? You don't feel so good. We value ourselves, many times, according to our hair, how it looks, how much we have.

I'm not going near the genitals in a jar...
